How can you tell if a Cobra cam is a real Cobra cam and its not a GT cam? Are they the same?

And

What kind of lift are GT40 head capable of handling with stock springs? My valve springs have the little helper spring on the inside is that stock for a Gt40 head?

Thanks for Any Help!!!

for the cam you would have to compare the numbers on the front part, i dont know what numbers does the cobra has or the gt. what are you planning of doing? i would go with an aftermarket cam
stock springs on a gt40 can handle up to .500" lift

the cobra cam has less lift than the GT cam, so in other words go with a new cam

cobra cam is just a little higher lift but they did come stock with 1.7 rockers which makes it a higher valve lift and it has a wee bit lower duration

Ah, you're probably right. I'd need to search for the lobe lift on a Cobra cam.

if youre just going from a stock gt to a cobra cam i wouldnt waste the time with that, its better to have a gt cam and upgrade to 1.72 rockers than to have a cobra cam, or get a good off the shelf cam and rockers and it'll be better

I'm pretty sure Paul is right, if my memory serves the Cobra cam has more lift even before the 1.7 rockers. Don't feel like checking my service manual to confirm it right now though...

i thought that the cobras had a smaller lift cam, thats why they put 1.7 rockers on it....

no, but I think it has less intake duration and more exhaust duration. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
