Actron OBD1 scanners used to be sold at Wally World but I dont think they do anymore. The major parts stores usually have them for 30-40 bucks. Do yourself a favor and get one with a digital screen because counting a flashing light and writing down the results sucks balls plus its more than just a little ghetto.
in a pinch, sure go ahead with your paper clip but when you're doing work... have the proper tool for the job.
