very very cool and all but seems over engineered to me with not enough pay off. If all they wanted to do was hit 1000 hp, all they had to do was strap on a large turbo and bigger fuel system. Guys do it all the time with these things. check out 5.0 mags king of the street. for 2 years worth of development i would have expected over 1500hp to the tires.

But they didn't, they wanted a 1000hp and a car that drives like stock untill you get on it. Which is what Tom Nelson always goes for.

Did you not watch the Video. With all the technology of the car and the way it introduces the boost depending on which gear there in. The sep fuel tank with Race octane so it can run a higher boost. 22lbs isn't anything for those Turbo's.

that thing is wicked. Leaving tire marks on the ground in 3rd... and then just putt around in the street... nuts. I read an article about a guy
doing something similar with the 2 sets of injectors in 5.0 mustang.. a green coupe and he had the second set of injectors programmed to activate
after 5 pounds of boost...

Popular belief sais Fram filters suck, maybe we should reconsider that statement if the VP of Shelby uses it and Tom Nelson runs it on his amazing engines.

Advertising dollars do a lot to sway opinions.

Nelson's stuff is always sweet, and I'm sure there's a ton of potential with this combo, but if I were Nelson, I would have realized all of that potential before I released Promotional/gross display of power & technology media. And it's simply for the reasons already stated.

Hellion had a kit out almost 2 years ago that was capable of all the things that this car is doing, and has proven it's capability. On top of that, it cost a fraction of the amount that this transformation would cost, it bolts on in a weekend, and still retains all the calm manners of a Stock GT500, and I've witnessed it first hand, from the driver's seat.

On top of that, a water/methanol kit would serve the same function as a secondary tank full of racing fuel, and unlike some of Nelson's other projects, it wouldn't require an additional set of injectors, or all the complicated programming that's involved with a system like that. Again, Nelson makes incredible vehicles, no doubt. But I agree that this seems like a ton of thought and engineering to accomplish what has already been done.

Now if they had come out and it made 1,300 or 1,400 to the tires, cold started like stock and drove well enough for you to not know there was a turbo system, then it would be more impressive, but in today's jaded performance world, 1,000 is old news.

EDIT: Just so no one thinks I'm ragging on the car, it's very nicely done and crazy powerful, as is all of Nelson's stuff, all I'm saying is if you make a car capable of producing 1,500 or 1,600 hp, and you want to show off your skills to the public via a promo video, then set it on kill and show everyone what you can develop. Done tell them it's capable of tearing their faces off and then actually make what other people have made, go ahead and rip their faces off.

Just because it's its popular and the most known brand doesn't make it good. Cut a fram filter in half, then cut a Motorcraft filter in half and tell me using a fram is still a good idea... and as hellion said, Advertising dollars can sell anything :p
