Dear new Friends,

I just did a KOEO and a KOER test, Also a Cylinder balance test.

I'm going to list the codes I got and I want you fellas (and fellettes?) to tell me what to do! But first i will tell you what the car is doing, First off it is having a hell of a time starting, it backfires, the idle is low, i can only go like 20 in first (after 3500 rpm it stutters and jumps). I'm sure it does other stuff i'm forgetting at the moment.

about car: 1994 Mustang Cobra, 121,7XX miles, New MSD cap and rotor, New water pump as well as upper and lower hose, new battery, and new Idle air control valve! also new vacuum line going to intake, as well as new PCV.
my stepdads stepdad bought it new in "94" (i.e. 93) then when I was ten he gave it to my stepdad, and now my stepdad gave it to me. Oh how happy I was. Long story short, I love this car more than anything and I need to help it get better.

KOEO:
113 - ACT Sensor Circuit Above Maximum Voltage of 4.6 volts (O), ACT circuit has intermittently failed above the maximum of 4.6 volts (CM)
176 - o2 Sensor circuit indicates system lean (left side)

KOER:
116 - ECT out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts

Cylinder comp test:
4 (so my 4th cylinder has bad compression.)

Please and thank you!

1st step would be to change the sensors.

ACT, Air Charge Temp, located next to the MAF.
ECT, Engine Coolant Temp, located behind the t'stat neck.
O2 sensors, just do them both, in the exhaust right under the firewall.

Start there. Is the compression test a code as well? Or did you do a real compression test?

The cylinder comp test flashes 4 because you have a v8..

As rich already stated. clean or replace those sensors, clean the MAF too.

The sputtering and misfiring might be the coil. Even though it is electrical and has no moving parts the coil does go bad. they're not very expensive either.

The 4 flashes that show up when you first start the car are signifying you have a v8.

Then after the KOER you leave the car running and quickly hit the gas to WOT. this begins the cylinder balance test. at the end if it flashes 9 youre all good, if not it will tell you which one has bad compression.

But I agree. the old sensors gotta go then I will change the Ignition coil.
