Im looking at getting to the performance side of my car and just put down some coin to fix my clutch quadrant. Im looking at a cold air intake but I have 2 questions. 1. I average 18-19(18.7 usually) mpg in the city driving somewhat civil, how big of a drop in mileage will I see and 2. How much of a performance edge does it give ie, enough to warrant the gas mileage drop?

first of all, you should not loose ANY gas mileage from a cold air intake. Some claim a little gain due to less restriction in the intake tract. for power, you will probably gain <10 horsepower, cold air intakes arent the most effective mod for power, but they look nice and let the engine breath better, and give you a couple ponies for it. I just got a drop-in K&N filter for my stock airbox, serves the same purpose as a cold air but is cheaper and doesnt look as nice. your call, if I had the cash to throw around id get the cold air

I have a K&N in it right now, So I wouldn't see much of an increase then? My brother has a cold air on his probe and it looks GREAT!

its rare if you get more than 5 hp gain,

today whiledriving around the city,i stopped to see this nice black slammed 95 5.0 gt and i asked the guy how many horse power it has he said 380HP on stock motor, I thought im not stupid so i asked him what you done to it to get there,he said just the CAI alone gave 18hp LMFAO. so i asked him for dyno sheets and he said "What is that"? He was a doutche :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh:

Lol, Hate guys who say there car has more power than it does, I have that one air thing taken off(forget what it was called) with a K&N, thats it so I MIGHT have 220hp if lucky. Anyone have a pic of a stock 5.0L with a CAI?

EDIT: NVM, found a pic on american muscle's website, looks nice! only $75 too! I might have to pick this up after i get paid next...

If your willing to spend the money for the looks, then it is worth it.

A K&N and your stock setup is the same as a UPR/BBK/American Muscle setup. I bought a UPR setup because my stock setup got cut by accident..

i live in Wa state so im pretty close to canada and i havent had any issues with snow and ice, since its in your fenderwell the plastic mud guard that runs inside of your wheel well will pretty much block 98% of debris from coming up into that area. If you get a K&N filter they sell "recharge" kits, which you first spray their cleaner on then rinse with warm water, let dry, then use their oil and let it sit/dry then just install and your good to go.

I have a recharge kit, I did that a few months ago when I took out the how air intake system to clean it, helped with performance and mileage. I can just use the same recharge kit on say the american muscle CAI filter?
