I'm a member on 3 different mustang forums and have never heard of this.

Maybe in the winter when you'll see steam at start up. but not in the summer. or while cruising.

Are you losing coolant?
You could do a cylinder leak down test to ck the rings, gasket and valves.

It can be a headgasket too, they both cause white smoke. Oil will have a blueish tint in the white smoke. Pull your plugs and check them, then check your oil to see if antifreeze is in it. It will look milky.

Blue smoke is oil.....

White smoke is water....

You need a compression test to see whats going where.

if you have not noticed any oil leaks and you are loosing a quart of oil a month, there is something wrong there.

well if the head gasket isnt already blown, try to fix the losing oil problem. going through a lot of oil can blow your head gasket. happened just last week to my moms car

If the smoke lingers around after it comes out and looks like a spyhunter smoke screen, its probably oil. If it comes out and disappears quickly, its steam and more than likely coolant. Oil smells like well...burning out. Coolant has a sweet smell.

Do you have a trans. cooler? ATF will burn white.

"Steam" is normal. It's water created by the catalytic converter. Generally only seen when it's cool out (low humidity). Like Ry said, if it's clouds of smoke all the time, it's an issue.
