I'm thinking of upgrading my gears. I have the stock 2.73's and a 25.7" tire. I highway the car a lot and have never tracked the car. I use it mainly for showing off to high school girls on Friday nights and weekend get aways with the wife, that being said I'm thinking 3.55 vs. 3.73s Mods on my car currently are simple bolt ons nothing crazy. Im not really considering boost at this time but eventually will overhaul the motor with a new cam heads and rotating assembly but wont be for a while. I welcome all thoughts and opinions, thank you!

You cant really go wrong with either. I love my 3.73's and they are fine on the highway but if you're on the highway a lot 3.55's may be a better option for just a cruiser

I'm one of the few that like my 3.55 gears, I think it's a great compromise gear and won't be too much if you make good power in the future. I'm assuming you have a 5 speed? stock T5 with 3.55 gears will turn ~2400rpm @ 75mph for reference.

i've read that 3.73's will turn about 2750 or so at 75mph. which doesn't seem like a lot but i'd think that spins crazy high especially if i'm driving for a couple hours. how do the 3.55's feel in the butt dyno?? night and day? or noticeable?

3.55s are not bad. I just put the 3.73s in 2 weeks ago and I am in love. I used to have a cobra with 4.10s and I felt like that was way over the top, but I feel like the 3.73s are the perfect blend to acceleration and being able to cruise really nicely as well. 2700 rpms do sound about right at the 75-80mph mark in the 3.73s

I had 3.55's in my stock rear end, they got ****ed up when the rear end had given out. The new rear end I got has 3.73's in it and there really isn't a big big difference between the two. I can say I like my 73's as much as my 55's. And I do a lot of highway driving and dumped the 4.10's because of it

Im glad that you said it isn't a huge difference between the two, the "build" on my car has been real street mild equipment so far after all it is just a cruiser, and I'd rather keep the rpms down while i'm on the highway.

Yeah man I thought with the 4.10's I'd just put up with it but I got tired of shifting after 10mph and got tired of sitting at like 3k at 75-80. I'm at about 2700 or so at 75-80 now which being below 3k is all I ask for. I'm right there with you on the cruiser aspect. I want a powerful street machine, that I can drive to and from work everyday and not worry about rpms and shit like that

If it were me id go with 3.73 at the minimum. I highway my cars. One with 4.10's and the other with 4.30's both 5spd cars.

I'm running 4:10 in mine and I wouldn't consider anything else.

Yeah, the RPMs are a bit high at 80+ MPH, but it's not really as bad as what people make it seem. I'm not looking for fuel economy or I obviously wouldn't be driving this car in the first place.

I have to agree with you for once.. I love my 4.10s.. I even drive 100+ miles a day and 80% of that is highway

Lol I'm not saying 4.10's are bad because of the mileage, I'm just saying they aren't for me. I don't like sitting at the high RPMs simply because I don't. I still got 20+mpg highway with the 4.10's I just didn't like the higher RPM's. The 3.73's have been good to me tho, for the 2hrs of drive time I put on them
