Coolant crossover sensor holes

I am doing a PI swap on a 1997 GT. The old crossover has 2 temp sensors and the new one has 0 sensors. The new manifold is off a 2001 GT. I need to drill and tap two holes in the new crossover. All I can find online is that they are 3/8-18 but the ones on my old crossover are closer to 5/8. what is the thread size?

Take the sensor(s) to your local hardware store and match them up to their correct size nut. That will tell you

It’s 3/8 NPT. National pipe thread is sized different. You’ll need a large drill bit, I can’t remember the size. You may be able to swap the crossover from one intake to the other.

Just google, "drill for 3/8 npt tap" that's what I always do. When you run the npt tap down, do not run it all the way through! You only want to run it down about 1/3 of the whole length of the tap, then test the sensor installation into the new threaded hole (without teflon to see how good of a seal it makes. You shouldn't have to put a lot of elbow grease once it starts to increase resistance to threading, maybe just another 1/2 to 1 full rotation after resistance suddenly goes up. When you're sure it's good, then you back it out and put on the thread sealant and run it down tight. But not hella tight, like I said.

You may be able to swap the crossover from one intake to the other.

They are different and it will not fit.

If its a pi crossover swapping from pi to pi intake....itll fit. But yea, npi crossover to a pi intake, no that wont work

as he said above be sure not to tap it all the way through. NPT flares out as you go deeper so it seals better so if you run the tap all the way through it will not be happy.
