i want to know how and what it takes to perform this, i know i obviously have to buy the individual coils but as far as the wire harness goes i have no idea, and what would i have to do to get the firing order, does the cops on the 99-04 have a stand alone comptuer for the ignition to properly fire the coils? i am strongly looking into this because of the fact that no matter what i do spark plug boots will not hang onto my spark plugs anymore.. and im out of options.. thanks guys..

There is a write up on here how to wire it somewhere. I would like to do it someday because it really cleans up the engine but I recently bought new wires and packs so I want to get my moneys worth first.

If it were me, the easier fix might be trying to solve this ^^^ problem, before abandoning it and completely changing everything over.
Why do the boots not stay on?

for now no, for the 14th or so time i redid the wires on my car and they seem to be hanging on. its been good for about 400+ miles and a few races so far. so i think im going to run with it. if they fail again i will convert.

Just wanted to resurrect this thread just to say that ive officially given up on wires and coil packs on my car, i just bought cops from duffy and i plan on wiring those things up as soon as they come in.

can anyone chime in that has performed this procedure and has any advice or does anyone have any advice?

Idk one of my boots did the same thing, turns out In my haste to put my spark plugs in I didnt snug one up and air was escaping past and blowing the boot out. So I would deffinantly see if you have that going on.

ford + COP = crappy ignition. If you do in fact do this swap make sure you buy decent coils. A friend of mine blows through borg warner coils like clock work.

I had OEM cops on my 4/.6 crown vic. Other than a cleaner looking engine bay I wouldn't do them. If your having trouble keeping the wires on the plugs you either are buying garbage quality wires or aren't really installing them correctly. I always use a dab of dielectric grease on the inside of the boot where it goes over the plug. Then I have to push and wiggle until I hear and feel a slight click. Without the click I am referring to they will always continue to fall out. Don't let cops fool you they will fail too especially since they are exposed to more heat then the coil packs due to their location. Having had both I prefer the wires.
