So I'm finally getting my car painted and I need to get a new cowl cover and headlight fixtures to bring the rest of the exterior up to par. Here is what I am looking to get:

Cowl cover: www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=LRS-02228B 1&comp=LRS
Headlights: www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=LRS-13008B-KIT 1&comp=LRS

The cowl cover is a Ford piece so I assume the quality will be good.
The lights however are 50Resto pieces. How is the quality on these pieces?

I purchased cheap "OE style" lights in the past and was upset with the quality. The mounting pins on the corner markers were off 1/2" compared to stock and the rubber seal looks like it was installed by a blind man. Very poor. Anyway somebody please give some advice so I don't make the same mistake twice. Thanks

50resto sells very good stuff!! I've gotten like 7-10 products from them!
As for lights, my 1st buy was a mod of stock lights! I now have smoked from Blue Oval Industries. They are by far a better light, put together wise I mean. A lot of members on here has them! They look great on ANY COLOR, too! Your choice though! Whatever you buy, you will see everyday! I won't! I can't wait to see after pics!!

I forgot about those. Thanks for the reminder. I was at work when I posted that and I didn't take the time to search. How long have yours?

I'll post up pics when I get a chance. My little bro is taking a body shop class and took the car in as a project. He thinks it should take him until the end of May to complete.

You're definitely right about seeing them everyday. I've had a new crappy light on one side and a cloudy yellow stock one on the other side, it looks bad.

Here's BOI Ebay link for ya:
http://myworld.ebay.com/blueovalindustries

I had them put on 8/3/07. Before putting in, I clear siliconed the dog out of them! My previous ones got all yucky inside! They let in moisture, I mean. They look as new as the day I bought them! True, I do not drive my car in rain though! But I've washed her quite a bit.

If you order them, they come perfect and fast!! I love BOI!

My car's paint is all faded, but here's mine:

Thanks for the pic and link. Hmmm. They look good. I may have to consider the smoke ones since my car is black.

I'm wondering how those would look on my white car... I have a cobra so I already have the clear headlights. Thinking of just getting the euro/amber sides and being done with it. Hey, Dalamar doesn't have smoked lights and I can't see HIS car looking any better than it does lol.

Eh...something just seems off about it to me. Plus I can buy some diamond amber side markers from 50resto for $30 a pair and I already have the cobra lights. I think if you run gunmetal(or similar) rims on a white car you can get away with it but I'm putting polished saleens on mine and I just think it would look out of place with everything else being white and then BAM, black headlights.

Plus I also already have the ultra clear 50resto fogs.

Since your car is black here's my opinion, get your cowl panel (and side mirrors) painted so it matches the rest of the car and go with some smoked headlights or black beauty headlights FTW!

Yeah I am planning on having the cowl cover and the mirror housings painted. When they get faded they look like ass. Black beauty hls, what are they?

Blue oval industries sells the smoked lights too only I think theirs have amber markers inside. Its basically what the new edge smoked lights would be if they came on our cars.

The black beauty lights look nice, does anyone know how effective the lighting is compared to smoke or stock?

Why not just paint your original cowl cover? Is that not a smart idea?

compared to stock GT lights and the smoked lights it should be better, and it's probably the same as the stock Cobra lights.

I would like to do that but on the original the rubber around the hood hinges is torn. Driving down the road it catches wind and looks like ass.
