I managed to land some '98 cupholders locally for $10. SCORE! Dremeled out the ashtray, put them in place, and melted the plastic together on the underside with a soldering iron. Only took about a half hour. It feels like a different car! While I was in there I threw on my '05 GT shift knob that was laying on the shelf. Not sure if I like the looks yet, but the feel is incredible on my Tri-Ax. And the temperature "Feels Like 100?" here in my corner of the midwest, so I polished up the outside too.

I hate my cup holder on my '98.. Is it really better than pre '98 cars?
Will eventually put a '03 cobra center console in

Pre '98 cars had a flip-out cupholder that could hold a bottle of water or a pop can -- your choice. When in use it renders the armrest nearly useless and makes shifting brutally awkward. I too will switch to an '01-'04 center console someday, but this is a quick fix.

came out real good and car looks good :headbang:

i had the 98 center console on my car, it was alright but
it was a pita to shift to 2nd-4th and reverse
i now have the 03 center console and love it.

Thanks! I don't have any trouble shifting with a pop can in the front holder. Anything bigger might raise issues though.
