hello can i get some advice as to whats wrong with my 95 gt, its backfiring and stalling, gas smell in oil, black smoke, only at 3000 rpm or higher, any lower and its fine, so far i have had timing, compression, fuel injectors all tested and checked and are fine, today i replaced my FPR and throttle position sensor, replaced wires, plugs, dist cap, rotor button, and same issue, did a fuel pressure test i get 32lbs at warm idle and 42lbs at high rpm while driving down the road, if i slowly apply the gas i can red line it with out any issues, but a quick punch and it floods, back fires and stalls out, it doesnt have any codes at all, it started doing this monthes ago but very rarly kinda come and go thing, but now its constant, can someone please advise me on fixing my ride i dont have the cash to keep throwing parts at it, i even checked fuel pump voltage and its fine, i dont know what else to do....

Sounds like a coil issue. Your Haynes/ Chilton manual can tell you how to test it.
Your fuel pressure is supposed to be 42 lbs with the vacuum off the fpr.
Welcome to the site.

No codes not even a 111 pass? You are using the correct OBDI port in the engine bay. I suspect a dirty or bad MAF and failed O2 sensors but both should trigger a DTC.

obd1 port i use is located between the firewall and the passenger side strut tower, in fact its clipped to the tower, has the black obd1 port and the grey port in the same cover, i had my only oxy sensor to fail before and it didnt do this just tripped the light and got crappy mileage, and the maf is fine, i used my friends which is the same set-up, and i had the same issues, his car runs fine, tried 2 different ones from a salvage yard same thing, tried a maf from autozone same issue last attempt the maf came from napa, none of which made any difference, the chances of them all being bad is unlikely

It's the windings breaking down due to heat and age.
I had the same thing happen to mine last year. I replaced all the plugs, wires cap and rotor and upgraded to a Summit Racing 42,000 volt coil and haven't had another issue.

Along with the coil, I would check injectors as well. If you have one that may not be working correctly it could lead to a rich condition.

Have you pulled plugs? See if one looks different than all the others. May clue you in to the issue.
