Rolling hom from work today and the CEL came on in my 99 altima. went to vatozone and they gave me the code P0325 which says knock sensor . I think the knock sensor detects detonation correct? And will adjust timing to to correct it. I could be way off though. Anyone have any ideas of anything else that could maybe cause this? The car runs fine, no knocking, detonation or anything. Thanks everyone!

maybe 8,000 miles ago i did a tune up with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. car is getting ready to turn 139000. runs 100%. Autozone wanted $140 for a new sensor. Knock off on ebay for $18 haha. and some euro somthin or other company selling oem nissan ones. so they say, for $45.

CEL came on but didnt notice anything different. tried unhookin battery to reset it and see if it came back on and it came right on upont start up

just replace the know off sensor and if it comes back on, have you checked the coils?

almost every nissan altima of this body and earlier i've scanned has this code in it. nissan does not turn on the engine light for a P0325. generic obd 2 scanners may not get all the codes, you need a more specific scanner to read it. nissan was bad about letting techs at non-nissan shops get info easily. on that note, that code means there is circuit problem and most knock sensor issues can be fixed by removing and cleaning the bolt and mounting surface of the sensor, don't forget torque to spec.

+1. Regular issue with my Twin Turbo. But when it's knock sensor goes screwy, it lowers boost from 9.5 to 7 PSI.

Darn really? well i guess i will swap it out since i bout it. it also had a code of P1448 which was the evap control valve open. not really sure what the heck that is. i hate newer junk with all these sensors and crap. is there any way to clear the codes out of it? that way when/if the CEL comes back on maybe it will only show the real problem code if there really is any

I am sorry man...you're hitting on every CEL issue that had plagued me in the past. I dealt with an evap system CEL on my Spyder, replaced the charcoal filter, gas cap, filler neck (twice), had a shop literally take apart and test the entire evap system, never went away.

But I'm sure you'll have much better luck. :eek:ccasion14:

dang that sucks! well im gonna put in the new knock sensor and then heck with it. It runs fine so i guess i wont worry about it if it doesnt go out. Do you know by chance how to reset the comp and clear the codes? i undid the neg bat terminal for a couple hours but the light never went off, maybe it did reset but the light triggered agian unpon first start up

for my Z, I accessed the ECU under the floor panel in the passenger foot well. There was a hole where you could stick a slender slotted screwdriver in, and it was like a combination lock...put the key to accessory, turn the dial one way then the other, can't exactly remember how it was. But it happened enough in my Z that I carried my screwdriver with me. :)
