i'll keep the story short.

my friend knows this dude that has a mustang shop and he had a badass 96gt. returned it to stock but has a procharger sitting in his shop from the car..

he told me 1500$ installed and tuned.

now my ? is how long will my stock stuff hold up to occasional hard driving and a little track time here and there. 79k miles, mods in sig.

A good tune and maintenance and it'll last as long as the motor would normally..

Is it a p-1 or a d-1? 98GT's are one of the hardest to tune. There are different fuel systems for that yr. Be sure he knows what he is doing. Then RUN over there with the money before he changes his mind. LOL. The head unit alone (swappin) from procharger is 1300 bux. A tune around here is between 300-500 bux. Its def a good deal. Dont worry about your lower it can handle like 400 to 450 hp. The tune MUST be good though.

If it's a P600B, I would think twice about it, but otherwise jump on it. You stock internals are fine. 1500 installed and tuned can't be ebat.

Procharger's base model head unit, it's not worth very much, so 1500 for a complete kit with one, installed is an ok deal, but not a great deal.

It's not self contained, and alot of people are scared to poke a hole in their oil pan. Also, it's not capable of as much boost as a P1SC, or D1SC. I beleive internally it may be belt driven also, not sure on that though. It will add 80 or 90 rwhp box stock though, and later down the road a P1SC will bolt to the same bracket. It's just not a screaming deal for 1500 buck's. Not bad, just not great.

well thats cool, i still think that a 1500 supercharger is a killer deal

I'm kinda looking into the powerdyne superchargers though... not a bad deal for 2657.97 for a whole kit :) , i've seen a site that sells things that help them out too for pretty cheap. Kevlar belts with a warrenty on it, billet revised impeller, better vented shaft that won't let the belt slip... better bearings and such. Not that bad, plus it said it will hold more boost and create more boost at the same pulley size and all...

You can get into a Vortech for that kind of money. Now you can find a used Powerdyne for very cheap. If you never want to use more than 10 psi, then it'll work great.

Yea somewhere in the 8,9,12 range... plus if i stick with the 2v i will be using pi heads and cams, intake along with the 10.5:1 CR >:D But i don't know about the max i want to run with that. I'm thinking about 10 :) But them there is my 4v Project...

10 PSI is good on a 10.3:1 ratio, that's what I always ran. I went like 30-40k and never had a issue, A/F was kept at 12:1, timing down to 19 degrees. Basically uber-safe.

I had Fox Lake stage II's, and VT NA cams. On stock displacement I made 409, I pulled the thing for a few months, then put the stroker in with VT SC cams, and the same heads. It was 489 in Ohio, after I moved I had the tune revised, never re-dynoed, it was down a bit though.

This was through a T56, 4.30 gear's, and full exhaust, including longtubes.

I dont think its a killer deal, because the shop right around the corner from me sells blowers for 1200-1500 all the time. So its pretty normal around here, but for LARGER shops it is probally a great price.
