I asked the guys over at a Lightning site about thier 0-60 sprints and found out that quite a few of them have those G-Tech meters, either the old version of it or the newer one called the SS. Do any of you guys have one??? I had one a long time ago ( 10 years :dunno: ) when the orginal first came out but it got broken and I never gave it another thought until tonight. Im thinking about buying one of the SS ones to track my truck and its progress :) they are suppose to be VERY accurate and the SS model gives 0-60 - 1/8 mile - 1/4 mile - hp - G's ........... so i think it would be a neat tool to have to track where I am NOW and where I am say 2 months from now. So does anybody have one??? I have never heard any of you guys talk about them so thats why im asking now 8)

My buddy had a new one... it was pretty nice...

One thing I didn't like was when you set it up to make a run... it goes 3-2-1 go.. or something of that nature... so you take off... BUT on the street I gotta feather the clutch to keep me from lighting them up big time... so when I feathered it... the Gtech would think I was shutting down and say run aborted.

Kind of pissed me off... so I had to go balls to the wall on most the runs and it would say something like 12.8 @ 135 or something.. lol

i've been thinking of them also, it gets old having to go to the track to check my car. it would be nice to find an empty highway and crank off a 1/4

Track is most definitely worth it if you have one near by...

No tickets... no risk of injuring yourself/car/someone else.... stay outta jail...

Sounds pretty sweet to me...plus VHT rocks ;)

so it does a count down for you to launch?? My old one just had a set button .......you hit it and then you GO when your ready and it stats the clock at the moment that movement is detected by the meter. The way you say the new one works is VERY much like what you would have at a real strip, reaction plays a part in the time you get.

i never really gave thought into one because i thought they were cheap.. but i didn't know they were actually accurate. and it detects all this through a cigarette lighter?? isn't that how they plug up?

Yeah, I've got one and been pretty happy with it. I can't get my car on the track (roadster, no roll bar) so I bought the G-Tech. Interestingly, I had done a few baseline runs with it prior to an SCT tune. After the tune, I thought the car felt like it just ran out of gas at high RPM. I put the G-Tech back on and it said I was down over 30% in peak horsepower. Long story short, although my car's a 99, the engine is a '98 (came from the factory that way). A tune for the '99 was accidentally loaded. The software for the '98 has an enable button for the IMRCs (different than the '99) so once the '98 tune was loaded, and enable IMRCs was checked, it was like WHOA!! Believe me, if the IMRCs aren't opening, you're loosing a LOT! Anyway, it was nice to have some numbers to go with my butt dyno intuition.

Yeah, they do. In my case, I would normally have to be careful to shift in time in first cause it would come up so fast. I noticed that was different and mostly, in second, it just seemed like it was working to get up to redline, whereas before it was really pulling. I've noticed on other forums that sticking IMRCs seem to be a pretty common problems, hence the IMRC deletes a lot of people are doing.
