Does anyone know of a secret of removing decals?

I just ordered silver SVO stickers. About 2-3 hours later I thought of how the stickers reading Mustang GT on my back bumper is gold! I caught it before it went out and they added to my list. Those things have been there over 12 years and they are stuck good! I bought some 33M decal remover and I tried that. It did not even budge it. I was just trying to go ahead and have it done before I took her into the paint shop! Does anyone know of a way to get them off? Or do I just let the trained professionals do it? hey Eli.

try taking a hair dryer to them. dont heat them up too much, but just enough to melt the glue, then they should slide right off.

If you have a heat gun its best but ive used a hair dryer before, just peel them away nice and slow from a corner

Like they said.A hair dryer works great.Even better if you let it sit in the sun for a while.If you use a heat gun be careful not to get to close.
You don't want to melt your paint or bumper.

3M inserts are not going to remove like a decal under heat. They basically become a painted on part of the car once cured.

Grit polish remover for a long chore or take it to a paint shop.

Or buy a new bumper.

I don't know if anyone still needs to know how to remove a sticker, but I'll go ahead and tell you guys my way (I literally just finished doing this on some dorky horse sticker on my car). I took a clothes iron and a towel and just laid the towel over the sticker on the car and basically ironed it. I done one side on my own a couple of days ago without heat and it took FOREVER. I done the other side with the iron/towel combo and it didn't take long at all. BTW the sticker I removed was from fender to fender on both sides.

Steps (if you're slow enough to need steps for this):
1. Get an old towel (preferably thin) and an iron....and probably an extension cord .
2. Lay old towel on decal. Tip: If its on the side of the car, below the window, roll the window down and let it sort of hang over the sticker.
3. Iron on the towel that is now covering the sticker until it gets pretty toasty.
4. Lift towel.
5. Peel.

That won't hurt the paint? Sounds cool though...

Just wanted to add, when the decal comes off if you have adhesive crap still on the car WD-40 is great for removing it. Worked great for me on several BS decals and emblem adhesive when I tool the snakes off my fenders
