Okay so i thought Id give some reviews on the headlights i just installed and the Bama chip.
Spyder Halo Headlights
Appearance: 9/10
Visibility: 8/10
Fitment: 6/10
Personal Rating: 8.5/10
Okay, So heres the deal with these headlights, They dont fit very well BEFORE mod, The adjustment screws and such line up fine to the holes on the bracket, but when fully placed in there is a pretty big gap and doesnt seal very well on the body. I looked where it was hitting first. It what the top adjustment screw guide rail or whatever keeps it on track so it lines with the hole. I dremeled about 3/4 an inch off so it would sit closer to the body and it worked fine. I still have somewhat of a gap on the bottom but its not noticeable unless your face is right infront of the headlights, and the corners are spaced slightly but the molding makes up for it.
Appearance, well this could be considered shotty by some, and fine by others. To be honest, the lights themselves suck, not very bright at all. With the regular lights on, the fog lights are about x4 brighter and the headlights dont really lighten much up, BUT because there so dim, you can still see the halos and looks great. I personally did not hook up the 3 LEDs because they look like junk and they all dont look straight, looks much better with them not on, But of course on the down side, you cant see much as it seems your just using your foglights to see with a little help from the headlights, This is where the sketchy-ness can come into play.... With the high beams on, The fog lights go off, but the hi-beams in the headlights are slightly brighter than regular oem lights. I drove around my town about 30minutes ago with just my hi-beams on and not one person flashed me (Passed 50+ cars) and you can see perfectly fine when adjusted correctly.
So the verdict would be use the fogs/reg lights during dusk or just for looks, and run the fake hi-beams for when you actually need to see, no one will flash you thinking your hi-beams are on. I personally will be modding my lights even more and putting quality LEDs in for the 3, LED Blinker, HIDs in the fog lights to use as my regular lights and run my halos on my headlights full time while keeping the Hi-beams for when i need them.
In the end, If your looking for more of a resto-mod 1 piece headlight like i was looking for, I would recommend these if you buy HIDs for them also.
SCT Eliminator 4-Bank Chip with BAMA Tune
Performance: 9/10
Feel: 8/10
Install: 8/10
Ease of Use: 8/10
Personal Rating: 9/10
Was sitting looking at car parts one late night and it just dawned on me that I have a decent amount of bolt-ons and such and really wanted a tune. Went on AM and found the one i was looking for. The SCT Eliminator 4-Bank Chip, ~$250 but totally worth it. BAMA Tunes it after you send them all the specs of your car. Received the chip, and took my about 30 minutes to Google where the ECU is and install this chip. Previous owner must have had a chip before because there was duct-tape over the insert and it was already cleaned. Plugged chip in, Ran the wire up through the cig lighter. Easy install, Put it in Street Spec (Setting 1) and turned the cobra on. Could instantly hear the difference in sound on start up and the way it idles. It idles SLIGHTLY higher but my car doesn't have the idle bounce and it doesn't shake anymore. Did a 0-80 pull down the street and couldn't feel some good power. Pulled over, turned car off (has to be to change setting) and turned the little dial to 2 which is the Performance Spec. Start up was even deeper but could smell a bit of exhaust. When i did the 0-80 pull, you could really feel the difference, especially once you hit about 3k+ RPM. I did not try setting 3, Which is the Race/Drag Spec. I also noticed that my dial placement did not work. I turned my radio on while cruising home and i guess the dial gives off a signal that interferes with my interior antenna, nothing but static. Had to reroute the wire/dial down side of passenger rocker panel and under chair right to the e-brake, no more static. I'm going to fill up tomorrow and run a work week in the street setting, then the next week ill do a full performance spec week and see where my gas mileage stands.
Bottom line, I would recommend it if a true dyno-tune is out of the question, I don't know of any dyno-tuners near me and didn't really want to go through that hassle and extra money as these chips with the BANA Tune are proven to give good gains, which i'm perfectly happy with.
