lets see.. if everyone read my last post about how my pulley snapped again.. anyways

i put everything back together today.. new tensioner. front oil seal.. alternator bracket.. alternator bolts.. new crank pulley.. and belt..

it runs good and everything, except when i was test driving it i noticed that my battery wasn't recharging. then i thought "oh shit i didn't plug the alternator back in"

i went back home and plugged it back in. the 3wire plug. then the one that goes off of it to the other plug and fired it back up only to find that it still didn't recharge. sitting on 10.9 volts in my driveway and wide open to suggestions and .02s

just a guess here but possibly cooked the alternator when it wasnt plugged in maybe.. no where for the energy to go to when it was spinning and fried itself... like i said just a guess... 99.9% chance im wrong... but was the only thing i could think of if it charged before the pulley went and doesnt now..

I have no idea either but that sounds like it could be true.

I have never heard of this ever happenning. Put a volt meter on your alternator, if it isn't putting out anything than you know it's the problem. How it got that way is a mystery, but spinning it while it wasn't hooked up is surely not a reason. Get a new one and paint it black to match your intake before you install it.

thats why i said it was just a guess.. id never heard of it happening either.. was the only thing i could think of as to why it would charge before he left the wires off and doesnt now after he did..

went and got a new alternator and put it on and it still wouldn't rechage.. battery died.

but.. the harness that plugs into the alternator the little clip broke off. not the single plug but the one with three holes. and its really loose i wish someone had a extra harness lying aroud so they could send me the new plug.. i have a feeling that those wires may not be making contact with the metal prongs inside the plug that goes into the alternator. but i'm open to suggestions.

and a friend just told me that their is a inline fuse in the Alternator line. is that true?

Leave the wire to your alternator unplugged and start your car. Then, test the output of the alternator with a volt meter. If it's putting out voltage it isn't the alternator. Then, plug in the harness and test the wires. Just keep working away from the alternator and you're bound to find out where the current stops. As far as an inline fuse....I've never seen that one either. But I am pretty green to these mod motors.

Well, you were just running off your battery. Have you recharged that?

You are right, charging your battery isn't going to help anything but to recharge your battery. That's what your alternator is supposed to be doing while your car is running. If your battery died, then the alternator/charging system isn't working. Check it like I said to above and you'l be one step closer to finding your problem....

hell everything is expensive with mod motors :crying: Just go get some factory style ones for the cheapest place you can. Unless you plan on making some serous power down the road then spend the extra couple of bucks on the polys.
