So im almost done with my 331 swap :) (long 3 years) anyways its got 30lb injectors i still need a MAF (obviously tuned for 30lbs) but my question is once all that crap is done can i start and run it? oh forgot i removed the EGR as well. Can i run it to break the motor in? or will i need to bring it to a shop and get it dyno tuned? towed to a shop or would it be safe to drive it? should i install a Air/fuel gauge to be safe? I know im not the first guy to do this so just wondering what you guys have done.

Thanks

I'd suggest getting an af gauge.

also, I took my computer in to my dyno shop and they preloaded it with a break in tune so we could let it idle and get it on and off the trailer.

finally, be sure to run the highest octane you can and maybe regard your timing a few degrees...

Yea man you can fire it and break the motor in . I would get a wideband for sure good added insurance . Nice to see ur wrapping it up. Haven't seen you much on our local forum but I don't go on there much either . Like Chris said throw some chevron 94 octane in there . Yea pretty well just run stock timing.

I agree with the two previous posts and will ad that yuou shouldnt try to go WOT or any other shenanigans until you get a true base tune. When we finally fired up my 410w [also, a long 3 years :)] it idled ok on the previous tune but that afforded just enought to move it around or load it on the dyno.

Yea I'm sure you'll be fine with the 331 should make good numbers with the heads and intake manifold you have . What can did you go with again? It's going to be a blast with the 4.10's

I think you should be okay starting and running it, i just wouldn't drive it hard until it's tuned up. Also you don't necessarily need to get a MAF tuned for 30 lb injectors but in that case you'd have to get it tuned or at least a chip programmed for those injectors before running it.
