My wife wants colored rim protectors partly for looks, party to protect her 18" FR500s from curb rash. We see some that use 3M tape and go on just the face of the wheels, some that use tape and wrap around the edge of the rim, and some that you deflate the tire and tuck between the tire and rim. Anybody had any experience with any of these???

Thanks in advance for your input!

Post some pics, I've never heard of these. But from your description, I imagine a foam pool noodle coming out of the tire all the way around. Why have nice wheels, if you want to cover them up? Can always get a rims/tires set off of craigs to mount on there, keep the good ones nice in a controlled environment if you're that worried.

sounds like the door edge guard? I think they might help with light scrapes but if you curb a wheel no piece of plastic is going to stop it. I think it would look almost as good as teh door edge guards myself which is why you don't see many of them...

My wife is looking at the looks more than the protection. Pink mini-stripes on the edges of the wheels that match her pink car.

I think that would look good on the pink car, however I don't have experience to tell you if they would last long. For aesthetic purposes, I would consider painting the outer lip of the wheel but I know taping it off perfectly would be tedious.

I stand corrected, they actually look pretty good while serving a purpose. Would have to be on the right car though.

I have to say that after looking at a few of them I think that they could be pretty cool on the right car. I have to ask though is there a point that there will be too much pink on the car?

The interior is now black with pink on the window switch bezels, air bags, and radio bezel. We did the hood, scoops, side scoops, and the rear spoiler in black and added black chin spoiler and rear valance decal for contrast on the exterior to break up all that pink. We added black rocker stripes and a style bar since the pic was taken. Rims are 18x9 and 18x10 FR500s, the tires are shot so 295/35r18s are going on the back along with Eibach lowering springs. So, there is some testosterone to balance out the estrogen. She is done pinking it up except for maybe the thin strips around the wheels. Once the tires are on, I'll post a current pic.
