I just tried to get emissions on my 95. They failed me right off cause I didnt have 4 STOCK cats. I have 2 high flow ones. But even then the car was too rich. And that was running E85. Screw this, Im going to WY to get mine registered.... Colorado is turning into California.

If you pull the spout connector for the retest, your will run base timing with no advance and will run much leaner.
I have to do the same thing for my annual sniff. just don't tell them the spout is out.
I don't know what to tell you about you cat prob.

Tell them that these cars came from the factory with 2 cats, is what you do. they didnt start 4 cats until the modular cars came along (not sure what year). also, running E85 is a bad idea if your doing emissions, do it with regular gas and a splash of denatured alcohol. the WY plate is a good idea until you are caught without CO plates past 30 days, they will tow your car to your house if you get pulled over, tho I havent heard many people having this happen yet.... (btw, I live in CO too) The spout connector trick is a new one on me. if the car is stock, it should pass emissions with a fresh tune up.

The spout connector is legit. I used it also bec. COX told me to. The emissions guy knew about it to. And 4 cats is bullsh8t. Cats are cats and as long as they're there it's good to go. Tell them that or go elsewhere.

I would try a different inspection place before I went to a different state. I know az was having problems with people registering in different states and were towing/ticketing for it the last few years.

yeah, definitely go try another place.

that place sounds like a "by the book 101%" kinda place. ask around maybe to see if there are any that aren't as strict in your area.
i'm not saying look for someone that will cheat you through or anything, but if they fail you because you have different cats then they can screw there selves.

You have to be able to replace worn out or damaged cats don't you? As long as they are legal replacements you should be ok in that department...I only have 2 cats on my 94 I think.

The car is far from stock. Look at my sig. All they have to do is look in their computer to find out how many cats the car came with. The emissions sticker under the hood says it too. And yes 95s came with 4 cats. E85 burns cleaner than gas. Thats why there was a big push for it a couple years ago. If you run bigger injectors and about 16 deg of timing you can run E85 just fine. I am. I think my biggest problem is I need a better tune. Maybe I could weld a couple of cat shells on the pipe to make them think I had 4. Then just get an emissions tune and try again.

f- it Im selling the car. I spend all this time and money building this car and it all pointless cause I cant drive it.

Heres the kicker. I CANT sell the car unless it has a valid emissions test on it. Unless I sell it as non running. Which means I wont get crap for it.

sell it as is. I sold my racecar like that without a smog and wrote down that I was not responsible for it, and legally sold it.

I sold many cars without a smog test... the end user is responsible for that. I would contact Scott at P&P performance up in longmont for more help. he has helped quite a few people I know pass emissions before.

the first think you list in your mods is an offroad exhaust, you realize that will make it hard on you right?

All about who ya know! Here in MD there are certified shops that can inspect it, idk how they do it in CO, but my dad gave business to this one shop, so the guy "overlooked" my extremely dark tints and no cats haha

Every state has loop holes, I use the ones in PA to the fullest and nothing I own gets tested.

You just have to find the loop holes and decide how to go about using them.

Dude... quit whining like a little girl about it. You knew should have known straight up, that is you put a faster motor in the car.. more then likely it is going to fail emissions tests. As everyone else has advised pull the spout, and take it to ANOTHER inspections place. And here in maryland... even if you can not get your car to pass... if you can prove you have spent over $500 dollars trying to get it to pass... they will automaticaly write you a waiver for two years.. so hell. Thats like saying.. just buy some new sensors, plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Things that should be replaced anyway after a bit!

Don't let one shop turning you down cause you to get rid of your car, that's a bit drastic. Different shops might not say anything at all because they don't know any better, or you can just tell them to "Keep the change."

If your car is in the smog database saying it has failed emissions it's going to be really hard to find someone to overlook stuff. There are a lot of shops willing to give you a "hand" for an extra cash, but once they know it's in the system they won't get near the car for fear of getting caught. My suggestion, buy a stock catted H and put back all your smog stuff just for the emissions. Post up a craigslist wanted ad or even one on here, about a week ago I saw a fellow member post one up for cheap.
