Bottom Line I love my mustang it is a GTS however the older I get the more I really would like quiet performance my days of loud exhaust is gone. I am pretty much at the point where I may put it back to stock with the exception of the 3:73 gears. I know is is not a luxury car but I am not ready to give this car up for european performance just yet. Any help to put me in stealth sleeper mode would be great.

I think you are letting yourself feel old too soon

I'm a year older then you and think the louder aftermarket exhaust is pretty much mandatory on a Mustang. The all stock quiet exhaust was on my "has to go" list the day I bought the car

Ford Racing did have an aftermarket catback for pushrods that was pretty quiet. That had 2 1/2" pipes with 3" tips. It was louder than stock but quieter than Flowmaster, Magnaflow etc.

solid motor mounts, slammed on its balls, solid tranny mount, 5.00+ gears, off-road h pipe, dumps, and act your age... :)

jk :)

to be hella flush, you just have to hook it up with a stock exhaust. It tends to be fairly quiet throughout the RPM range. If you are looking into aftermarket, I suggest looking into Dynomax. (i think that was the brand) i read in Jegs they have a new muffler design that makes the soundwaves cancel eachother out. I dont know if this will be quieter or not, but im just throwing out ideas.

I'm in your boat. For my race car it's race bullets, louder the better. For my crusier, my vert, I wanted something very quiet, so I tried magnaflow. HATED IT! Sounded like a 69 roadrunner with glass packs. blattablattalbatta. Couldn't wait to get it off the car. So I sold it to a guy with a turbo 5.0 because hellion recommended that cat back, so he puts it on, and calls me up complaining he couldn't hear it run. wow. Just my luck, his combo worked great with it. So I asked around and looked around and decided to give dynamax a try. 600 hp never sounded so good. It is quiet, but opens up a little when I get into it. At idle and part throttle very nice and subtle. I tried the stock mufflers and ended up blwoing my PCV valve out from the back pressure. I say try dynomax once and see how you like it. Much quieter than the log truck Slowmasters. aka dronemasters. Not a fan.

Dynomax SuperTurbo mufflers will quiet things down quite a bit and still give you a much better flowing muffler over stock.

Another excellent choice is the Borla Pro XS mufflers.

Both will sound nice a tame at idle and cruising around town and still give you the sound at WOT.

no aftermarket catback is quiet. what you could do is put your stock midpipe back in with
your aftermarket OR weld in stock cats (REAL cats) in your off road midpipe, that's what
worked for me.
hi flow cats will not quiet your exhaust down. hi flow cats are garbage, just a couple mesh
grilles in them that you could see right throught. They are NOT real cats.

My Dynomax Ultraflo's are quiet. I also have Catco High flow cats. They aren't garbage, why would they be legal in almost every state if they weren't real cats???? They are legal in 49 states.

That video i posted is basically a stock sounding catback. Just a tad louder.

That's why when he asked stock quiet but with performance i posted mine. Ultraflo's are one of the best flowing exhaust out there.

NXcoupe were you running Magnapacks? I've never heard the regular Magnaflow mufflers sound like glass packs. and that other guy's combo was quiet cause of the turbo, anything on his car is going to be a lot quieter.

I know that. It was frustrating to him tho because the exhaust he had on it was much louder, but more restrictive. He picked up about 25 hp with the magnaflow exhaust. All I know is my experiences with these exhausts. The dynomax quieted my car down to just about stock levels without being restrictive and I am very happy with it.

get some headers, get some high flow cats... Then weld in some different mufflers...

Super 50 (SUV) - Three Chamber Mufflers claim to be mild in sound

Or maybe weld in stock mufflers...

Or try to find a 3 or more chamber muffler... I did a quick google search and found these.. (JBA Elite Series 4 Chamber SS Muffler)

I don't remember, think it was flowmasters. He put on the magnaflow stainless exhaust, looks like regular mufflers, but they are straight through, they had an irritating blatta blatta blatta to them on accelleration that I lost with the dynomax. I used the superturbos on my vert, and it is very quiet. At idle you mostly hear the blower and that damn stock fan. My car used to sound like a harley with straight pipes, now it sounds like it should imho.
