It hasn't worked since I bought the car last summer. Tried a new odometer gear from Latemodel resto last fall, only to discover that the original odo gear still had all its teeth :wall: :wall:

Well- that can't be it!

Took it all back apart a couple of months ago- unhinged the little motor that drives the mileage odo/trip odo and turned the gears in there. Everything spins freely. My dad notices that the plunger in the gauge overlay (for the reset) is pretty much hitting the gauges, so it's like the trip odo perpetually resets itself.

Last night I tried to ghetto-rig a little spacer to go between the gauges and the plunger. Got it all back together- nothing!

Dad suggests taking the overlay off the gauges and seeing what happens.

I took off the 4 screws that hold the overlay to the gauges (everything is still held in place by the 4 BLACK screws going to the dash) and head out.

IT WORKS!!!!

So I got it all back together and my trip odo tells me I went 52.x miles today. Sweet! Amazing how the little things can matter.

Sometimes the answer really is the easiest thing, but who would have thought the trip odo wouldn't work with everything PROPERLY assembled? Only a Ford :rollinglaugh:

I'm celebrating this with :happydrunks: :happydrunks: tonight
