Trip counter stopped working

Hi y'all.
Just noticed my trip counter has stopped working. don't know if the main odometer counter is still working, as I couldn't remember the milage before I set off, but reset the trip counter before I left, still reading zero when I returned. Have heard the little internal gears for the odometer have always been a bit dodgy on these models, is this likely to be the problem?

Yeah I’d say it’s the odometer gears. Very common problem.

Yea, even a "non-car guy" like myself was able to replace them watching videos on just how to that.

Thanks for the replies guys. Had heard something about the gears being not up to the job years ago. Guess it's over to youtube then....
