I ran my afr185 with a tfs 1 and it had pvc issues. Did not bend any valves but you could see were the valves were touching the piston.

It is but I had a friend do it for me and he said it was fine. Then I had to go back and take it apart cause he put a gasket on backwards. Thats when I saw the valves were touching the pistons.

yea my friend check it cause he knew i was on the edge about the PVC. also how do you others that run the TFS 1 cam like it? how is the rpm range? in the spec it said it was good from 2000-5500rpm's. would this cam work well with N2O? since im gonna spary it for a little before i boost it

It's a small cam for those heads but it is a good blower/spray cam. It has some good overlap as well as pushing hard on the exhaust. Those heads are going to continue to make power past 5500 where your cam is gonna get tired. That is why I would run a 165 with that cam BUT you'll be fine, you're not building a race car. As long as you are 110% sure your valves are not playing the drums, you should have a good setup.

i plan on building a 347 this winter so a bigger cam will be in the works for that set up

I bet your pushing it real close. Wount be suprice if you take it apart later youll see valve marks on the pistons. Or the other way around.

Just like rz5.0 said as well as me. You could be tapping and I'm not trying to scare you BUT if you are even slightly, slightly, slightly you could be looking at catastrophic failure.

Valves, guides, pushrods, lifters etc. One of the issues with situations like this is your engine could go for 5 miles or it could go 5,000 miles before it dies. If a valve or valves do bend, the first time you start it and let it idle it's gonna stall.

At accelerated speed, slightly open valves aren't all that big of a deal. However, at idle is critical to have certain duration when the valves close. You just have to be VERY careful.
