actually, full out drag hondas run 7's last time i checked

I dont know where you see them...maybe professional series? I dont know, were probably talking about 2 differant types.

..but I went to imports vs domestics and the fastest honda there touched nines, the other drag hondas couldnt break past the 10s...these were full out drag cars.

The domestics of course were running 8s and some even were in the 7s.

there was a fox body that looked 100% bone stock besides the chute on the back running on 17s with nitto drag radials that ran in the 8's it was insane...he had a big hass procharger f1 and some sort of beefed up motor.

I might get hate for this..... ...but I dont see how thats a win. You had to go 120mph to beat a honda?!? For all I know he kept up until his governer kicked on, or simply didnt want to go that fast. Im in no way saying that your car couldnt beat it, or isnt fast, but I wouldnt call that a win either. Oh, and to put your dads life, your life and others at risk just to prove youre faster than a honda is not cool. I mean, come on, youre in a mustang, and hes in a 4 door family sedan grocery getter.

I wasnt driving...my dad was, and I personally wouldnt say it was a complete race. He got on it randomly and then my dad did, and we caught up and passed him easily.

turbocharged autos are typically faster than their manual counterparts due to the ability to stay in boost even while shifting, a stock lt1 should easily run a low 14 without issue, a turbo lt1, practically stock car shouldn't have a problem running ATLEAST a mid/low 13

biggest problem with this statement (no offense meant) is your trying to compare fwd cars to rwd's

The lt1 wasn't turbo.... is all it had that I was aware of was exhaust (because I could hear it). You then said even a turbo lt1 should run at least at 13... did you mean the turbo transmission? or an actual turbocharger? Because there was no boost lol. I woulda gotten raped.

Anyone here seen the show pasttime? I think some of you need to watch it to get a feel for the power it actually takes to get into certain times. A honda running 10s is pretty amazing in my mind. 4 cylinders vs our 8? But the whole displacement issue.. we put as much money into our little V8 as their little I4 and we get single digit quarter mile times. But they still get above 20mpg.. lol It's sad that the greater whole of honda drivers make the actual tuners look like hell. Or in my area i see more trashy rednecks or ghetto asses driving mustangs then people that respect the car.. It's unfortunate. That video was awesome.. I hate the people that talk trash just because they have a T/A or Mustang. It's pretty damn arrogant and annoying.

I can honestly see how youd assume I meant you. I was using "you" in its plural term meaning "you and your dad." Also the fact that it was "your" car, or so Im assuming is. And the way I said about putting other peoples lives in danger, I didnt know just quite how to word that to show how carless your dad was, but I can see how it can easily be read to refer to you, yourself.

Still, there is no reason your dad should have done that. Ive raced from rolls before and never gone that fast. Id take it to the track if I were going to. Plus in my state, if they think youre racing (even if you dont even break the speed limit) they can throw you in jail and impound the car.

Well in my state, the only time they can impound your car is if you've at least doubled the speed limit. They can give you a ticket for "exhibition of acceleration/power" but that can be anything from a little chirp of the tires to a full line-lock burnout at the stoplight.

Like with most things, its all about what the cop feels like doing. In my state if you cant provide proof of liability they "can" impound your car. A little chirp of the tires they "can" accuse you of racing, but exhibition of speed sounds more rational, and even with that, up to the officers discretion. I once got a ticket for "failure to control speed" Pretty much anything in my state is illegal, its all up to what the officer wants to do about it.

Most of the times the cops are total asses, especially if they see somebody younger driving or a group of cars together. When I had DR on the car the rain was my worst enemy(for anybody who has drove with drag radials in the rain, ya'll know what Im talking about), but even a little tiny slide they would stop me. Like you said, it's totally how the cops feel at the time.

Ugh. I've driven in downpours with drag radials.. Had to go about 30 under the speed limit to to feel a little safe.. It sucks for DD.

This topic is pretty funny because it reminds me of me.. I was with my Dad in his truck a few weeks ago.. Blown 383 C-10.. And we raced a Cuda with some sorta wicked stroked mopar.. And easily exceeded 100 mph. It happens. Everyone here has raced. At one time or another. You people that bash people for racing.. And going fast for a few seconds... You're not Jesus. Or someones mother. Go have some fun.. But be safe. And if you're not going to have fun with your car give it to someone who will.

thought you mentioned a turbo somewhere... anyways, the lt1 cars used 4l60e's which are electronically controlled 700r4's

oh, and btw, in any state, they see you racing your car can be impounded

Lol no, if it was boosted I wouldn't have even wasted my time. The cops don't play games with street racing anymore, they will give you as much shit as they can, especially if you are putting other people at risk.

I dont know where the turbo charged auto shit came from but yea, stalled auto cars are generally faster when you have some power and especially with a turbo
