Ok there is a 96 v6 for sale local here with a cracked head. I could pick it up for $700 max. IF and thats a big if I have to replace both heads with new ones I would have about 650 in parts. How much do you guys think I could sell it for and make it go quick? I was thing having no more than 1400 in it and putting it up for 3000obo. Do you guys think it would go quick or would it just sit. I would be able to go down to 2000 and still make a good profit for minimal work.(yes i consider a head swap minimal). So tell me what you guys thing. Go for it or dont. The car has 155k on it and clean retail is 3500 NADA

I doubt you'd sell it for $3000 especially with that mileage. I've had mine listed for a few weeks now at $3000 and it has fresh paint and newer interior, and i've gotten only a few hits.

Around here even lower mileage 6ers dont bring 3k and they sit awhile before they do. Ive never had any luck dealing with six cylinders.

Even if you only have $1400 cash into it, you have to take into consideration the labor, time is money. My labor rate is $88.00 an hour which is inline for most dealerships. This is an 8(?) hour job to replace both heads, that is another $700.00. Now you are up to $2100. That is if everything goes smoothly. So if you were only able to get 2k out of the sale, you are losing money. 3k out of a 155k miles car is close to top dollar and will be hard to get.

PASS, not a good idea.
