The curse of the Turdstang continues! Don't worry mine isn't totalled. But I literally just solved the clunking issue, called my mom to have her call the insurance company and add the Turdstang back on, and headed out to the bank to activate my card.. And some fun occurred! Lol... I was driving down my street and when I got to the S in the street I heard a very loud clunk, loud enough that I could hear it over my music which was turned up pretty loud. Naturally I'm thinking wtf and pull over to investigate. Turns out I hit this

The other end of my street had been repaved a week or two ago and the jackasses left 3 of these unconed and otherwise, unmarked. And guess what it hit? My muffler, of course lol. So looking under the car I figured shit it just ripped it out of the clamp, no big deal I'll drag it home and fix it (didn't have far to go being on my own street still..) Got it home and couldn't get it in my driveway because the way it was hanging it wouldn't go over the bump so I had to leave it in the grass. As soon as I jacked it up it looked like this

O and a little bit of this

And some of this!

And after we got it all untangled and laid out.. I was left with this

The force of that stupid thing in the road literally destroyed the opening and the case of the muffler, and partially wrapped the tail pipe around the axle. It was FUN removing it. Called the cops and filed a police report, the cop was real cool fortunately (didn't say anything about not having cats on it) and took pictures, told me to call city hall tomorrow since it was on city property, and pretty much was dumbfounded by the fact that not 1 but THREE of these things were left uncovered! He said he was gonna get cones himself and cover them and sure enough a few hours later me and my girlfriend were headed back to my house and he had them covered. So now I get to call city hall tomorrow and deal with them.....

Had Turdstang out for an hour and it's already back off the road lol.. Any of you guys had this shit happen?

And Sorry MC! Your muffler is toast :(

Ooo hell nah. That sucks man. Hope it gets handled.

That's what I'm sayin man lol and thanks me too!

you're jacking your car up from the wrong spot.

and you're on grass.

What are you doing??? do i need to come slap some sense into ya, boy!
http://www.sn95forums.com/showthread.php?30254-jack-stands-grass-fail

anyways, they better work with you on this! thats ****ed up!

but damn

LOL! I was in a hurry and looked for a spot that one of the 8 previous owners had lifted it from and used it. I know I know.. Stupid, but I have small plywood squares that I tossed under the jackstands. I literally jacked it up and didn't touch anything and that's how the tail pipe looked lol. But I don't know if I said it or not but with the way the muffler was hanging I tried getting in my driveway and it hit the edge of the driveway and just stopped dead in it's tracks. Had to go through the grass as we just poured concrete on 80% of our apron soooo it was either the grass or the middle of the street. I chose grass!

And yeah when I call them tomorrow I'm gonna be like look it was unmarked, I was too busy paying attention to the ones that WERE marked, and totally did not see it. And that's not a lie in any way, I literally did not see it. I'd be pretty pissed if they say "well there's nothing we can do" because **** that shit I'm not payin for someone elses mistake ya know?

I really hope it doesn't get to that point. I hope they just realize that the company they hired is at fault, and it's there property, so they are the ones being held responsible for this. I was livid as **** at first tho called my mom yellin "I'm ****in suing the city of Berea!" haha

Damn dude that blows. Good luck with the city shit. They will more than likely tell ya tough shit though. Had it happen with a manhole cover a few years back when they were paving the streets. It was like four inches above the road and wasn't marked. I egg shaped one of my Bullitts and they told me since they didn't receive any other complaints that there was nothing they could do.

How far does it stick up? I mean it looks like it barely stick up further then one of the reflectors in the road...

I was just about to say the same thing.

From the photo you posted, KillNThrill24, it doesn't look like it would stick up high enough to do much of anything, unless your exhaust was practically dragging on the ground to begin with.... but maybe it's just the angle of the photo???

Sorry fellas I can't get a better shot of it I should have taken a side shot of it tho. The problem is it sticks out of the ground a good 4" and being in the center of the road makes it even higher because the center of the road is at a peak and slopes down on either side. Believe me it's a lot higher than it looks. My exhaust rarely scraped anything after I got everything mounted properly on it

The good news is I didn't have to call the city they ended up calling me and gave me the name and number of the company who paved the road. Mom is gonna call our insurance company later and have them call the asphalt company and we'll go from there

It's going to be hard to get them to admit fault for anything, especially with it being a construction area. They'll probably just say there was a pylon there and it was either moved or taken by somebody. It doesn't appear that they're done with the resurfacing project either as the asphalt would be at grade with the manhole covers, water department shut-offs, etc etc that are sticking up above the pavement. Good luck.

It was heat of the moment thing about suing. Moms on the phone with the insurance company as we speak. The cop seemed rather upset that the company didn't cover that stuff, and he ended up doing it himself

Well mom told me this could take awhile to go ahead and order parts. Fawk. But she also said we had a cop witness the unmarked water things and he put his own cones on them so that should work to our advantage. Hope it does because **** buying things twice.

Now then... same muffler or should I get different Borlas?

Construction on streets are hell on lowered cars. I would be ghetto and have a shop just re bend that and throw it back on. Might be way cheaper. Don't see it causing problems unless your pushing high power .

Crap there were spots on the streets at stock height that my car didn't kinda rub but was really more like dragged along. I wanted to drop my car for years prior too doing it just because of that reason. Its only because I had a good year financially that I decided to drop some coin on the bags or it would probably still be at stock height. I know for that reason that if they were more affordable that we would be seeing bagged stangs so much we would be sick of them.

It sure is man. And I had to cut the tail pipe in order to get it untwisted from the axle. And I know it's hard to tell in the pics but its crimped really bad in a few spots, almost closed up

Yeah I had a few streets like that too Scott. You'd hear a quick scrape sound and that was it. Usually just scraped the flanges of the intermediate pipes tho, those hung the lowest. Wish I had a way to mount the damn x pipe up higher that might have helped. And shit yeah you would. The freedom of being able to lift it up when you need to and drop it to look sexy.. Yeah that would be a godsend right about now
