Driving in traffic. everyone is cool 4-5 car lengths away from each other. Suddenly the fusion in front of me starts to brake and then goes rather quickly into emergency braking and basically comes to a start. About the time I realized he was stopping and stomped on the brake I felt the abs kick in 2-times to watch myself slide right into the back of him and nothing but airbags then. The other car was an elderly couple the driver was fine, passenger they took the the ER according to the cops just to be safe. Had the car rolling at a rake with the bags so the front end basically slid under theirs. Will need a core support, radiator wasn't leaking but it took a good shot, bumper/fenders(drives side) and the hood. Only real good news was the freshly painted chin spoiler was down far enough that it didn't get touched and I only have a $250 deductible. Could have been worse but certainly disappointing.

your airbags deployed? Hope insurance will cover this.. Hope they cover it all.. Sucks when people infront dont pay attention causing them to brake so late and hard..

Glad your alright man and hope the car gets back to its previous condition

true, since the bags popped I wouldn't be surprised if they totaled it. do you think having the car in a rake could have reduced the braking performance?

Idunno. Of course any suspension change will cause the car to handle/brake differently. Not sure how it effected it, just sure of the outcome. Hopefully it will not be totaled since its special to me since my mother was the original owner but the way karma likes to treat me I will be $5 over that number :(

only damage to me was a small red spot/burn on my left arm from the air bag, and one hell of a bruised ego standing on the road there...

Atleast your in one piece man, thats all that counts. People always say, cars are replaceable, people are not. It happens man, theres nothing you can do it about it. I was in a car accident like 3-4 months ago. My sisters bf was driving his 06 sixxer, traffic came up real quick, people slammed on the brakes and unfortunately he didn't brake in time and we hit the jeep in front of us. Similar damage, grille, hood, radiator support. His fenders were uneven, the frame was actually a little bent. Do you doors close like normal?

The bag hit me in the face as well and thankfully my new maui jim sun glasses both protected me, and made it through with out a mark on them. I can actually remember looking at the air-bag material against the glasses an inch away from my eye right after they went off thinking "WTF?!?!?!" as it all happened so fast.

Car is replaceable - now I was just thinking about that before I read that and I am not so sure that car is replaceable honestly. I could go get another sn or even a new 5.0 but it would never have the warm-fuzzy feeling that I had when I was 18 and THAT car rolled into the garage for the first time. Shit I think back to all the dumb memories I have in that car and crap it goes back half my life now........ Sure any mustang could be fun but idunno, just never gonna be the mom-stang.

Not all hope is lost. If they do decide to total it out you can always buy it back and rebuild the title. You will most likely end up with money in your pocket if you do it that way..

:) :) We'll get you up and running in no time! I just sent OverHaulin' an e-mail. they already agreed to do your ride on their show. They're going to shave the door handled, the locks, the antenna, put a chrome split bumper off a camaro on it, put foose wheels on it and then leave the motor exactly how it is... ....

:) lol.

seriously tho. you're okay and they damage doesnt sound as bad as it could be. I sold my entire airbag system on ebay for a couple hundred bucks.... (both bags + trigger box + both sensors up front)
LMR sells the radiator supports.
that just leave fenders and a hood.

anyone know a good place to get a hood at? I am not interested in a cowl, never really liked the look of them short of the cobra-R style. Always thought the heat extractor style looked cool but never looked at the hood before as I was happy with the stock hood.

So sorry about your wreck, that really sucks. This car means a lot to you, I can tell. I have a '96 GT hood in good condition (deep forest green) that I'll let you have if pay the shipping from Virginia. Let me know if you're interested and we can work it out.
