The guy who owned the car before me put 4.10's in the car and didnt tighten the ring bolts. 2 of the ring bolts where just laying in the bottom of the pumpkin. I'm going to put it back together with lock tight, new bolts and new cover and see how it holds up. I'm still going to rebuild it since i have all of the moser parts, but maybe later.

Incase you did not realize this, that hole is going to leak. Yo should put a cork in it with a little bit of RTV. LOL! :hammer:

You might want to replace all the bolts if 2 of them were laying in the bottom. No telling how over stressed the remaining bolts are.

it worked out great. I had a 7.5" mustang rear end with the same ring bolts, so i replaced all of the ring bolts, torqued them to 85 ft lbs, installed a chrome cover, filled it with synthetic blend, and it works. it howls a little but its not too loud. now i can at least drive it until i have time to completely rebuild the rear end.

Did you check the pinion depth while you were in there? That might be part of the howling noise. I like the idea of just putting a cork with some rtv in the hole haha.
