if you get a set of darker headlights, gunmetal saleens will look amazing.
but nice score man! glad i could help.

Nice deal! I love finding cheap wheels...definitely throw on a set of smoked headlights if you're going gunmetal.

I'm undecided. I'm kind of leaning towards the ultra-clear cobra style headlights since the 96-98 tails I just got aren't smoked and I don't think I want to smoke them. I found ultra-clears & smoked on ebay and then found a set of smoked cobra-style with amber corners on CJ's site I liked too...

Decisions, decisions, LOL

i love my smoked headlights even with my stock tails. If you're gonna keep the wheels chrome though the clear headlights may be a better choice, or black beauties for the best of both.

I'm definitely going to stick with my plan to change the color. I just finished cleaning them up, especially on the inside, and noticed that all 4 are stamped 18x9 & 24, which I'm assuming is the offset. I wasn't aware that they were stamped somewhere and didn't think to ask if he knew. This actually works out for me. I can now simply swap my 265-35-18 Nittos over instead of buying a new set of tires to fit out back.
Right now there are 2, 60% tread 285-35-18 Bridgestone Potenzas and 1, 80% tread 275-35-18 Michelen Pilot tires mounted. I'll see about selling them on craigslist when I pull them off to get the wheels powder coated.

I think you're right about smoked, Onyx. I've always loved they way your Cobra looks...

Before you buy them make sure there not bent .. There is a reason there so cheap ...

I already have them.

I looked them over for any obvious damage, dents, scrapes, etc when I picked them up and again when I was cleaning them up and they appear to be fine. The one without a tire rolls straight & true, the others do as well. I'm not sure how else I could check them.

The chrome on the face is great but he chrome on the insides of the wheels is not so great. There is some pitting too. This shouldn't be too big of an issue since they will probably be sand blasted & prepped before powder coating.

Again, I was looking for an inexpensive set that wasn't cosmetically perfect since I was going to change the finish anyway.

Awesome find man. Craigslist can be a major PITA but every once in a while you find something worth while on it. Those are going to look great on there chrome or gunmetal

I've been checking for a while myself for a good solid set of Saleens in my local region that is priced well and have come up empty so far. Great buy and they do look awesome.

Well the temperature out here is twice as warm, 38 degrees, today as yesterday so I thought I should take advantage and swap some stuff around. I picked up a great set of '96-'98 tails from 330CubedGT a while back and took the bezels & my S281 wing down to my painters a couple weeks ago. I got them back Wednesday. I am REAL happy with the tails as they worked perfectly.

I also put 2 of the Saleens on to see how they looked. The insides of the wheels are pretty crappy but the outside is decent. Right now, I like the chrome and may just clean up the insides the best I can and maybe shoot it with some black, because that crap is going to bother the hell out of me.

I took a few before & afters (tail swap & Saleen swap)

All of your different setups look good...I definitely like the vertical tails...and the 00 cobras are more unique, but chrome Saleens always look good on black.

Probably just me but I loved your car's rear with the horizontals and no wing. Looked low, wide, and sick. Haha.

Thanks. What I've done here is probably old-news to most but this new setup is fresh and exciting for me. I've had this thing for 18 years! I still won't be on the streets until Spring so it should still be fresh when I hit the road again.

I'd like to roll wingless as a change from time to time, but the holes in the trunk kill it for me. I know I can get plastic plugs or find another wingless lid, but when I was taking the pics of the tail light swap, I couldn't get used to the wingless look.

I've got the flairs, horizontals & Steeda wing stashed safely in the basement.

The Saleens have 285-35-18 Bridgetone Potenzas out back and the front (yes only one) is 265-35-18 Michelen Pilot. All wheels are 18x9 so the rears are a tad bulged.

i think the car looks better with the wing. and the chrome saleens look amazing.
the only thing i'd recommend is painting your calipers a different color. blue doesnt really match anything on your car...

Car looks great man. I like it with both tail light types but I think I like the horizontals a little better because it keeps true to the 5.0 you have in there. That's just my opinion though. Looks great either way
