fuel filter preference

hey,

I want to run the best filters i can on my car.

with oil i started with fram, then fram TG, then moble 1, then was told napa gold was the best... so thats what i use now. napa gold with moble 1 oil.

air filter i use my mac CAI filter, i try to keep it clean and oiled according to instructions. i also wash my MAF regularly, and have never had a problem.

but now its time for the fuel filter. its an early change, i just changed it 2-3 months ago, but im getting my car professioanlly tuned, and i want her hummin' like..... . . whatever it is that hums amazingly....

I have a fram fuel filter, but i feel like its a generic brand...

anyways, what brand FUEL filters do you guys you? any suggestions?

Just get a motocraft filter.

x2 on motorcraft. if you changed it 2 months ago i doubt you will notice any difference other than $5 less in your wallet.

don't ever use fram ever, seriously its trash. I have a Wix one on my car now and its perfectly fine, but IMO if you want the best possible then motorcraft is the way to go.

Go to carquest and get a ford filter thats the best thing to do..... I found the ford filters for oil here at my walmart

i know their oil filters are junk because they use cardboard... lol... and even the tough gaurd is cardboard in between two sheets of metal. lol!

i odno about fuel filters though, why do their fuel filters suck? same reason?

Most people don't use Fram at this point because most other people don't use Fram, lol.

But yes, Fram genereally tend's to use a small surface area filter, along with cardboard (or plastic) end caps on their oil filter's.

As far as I know, there is no reason not to use their fuel filters. In all likelyhood, you'll probably never blown up running anything from Fram. It's more of an Aha for future reference.

damn didnt get in here in time. On frams there have been report of the filter colapsing and blowing engines because of it. Thats why every other company uses metal caps.

i read that website JR, so which filter is the "all-mighty amazing filter" ? i looked and even his opinion page was like: "here are a list of good one in alphabetical order."

Every other company doesn't use metal caps. I'm pretty sure if Frams were really just blowing motors left and right, there would be quite the liability issue on Frams behalf for not "meeting or exceeding" the OE requirements.

Chris, I use Purolator filters, because I like the slogan. On some of my vehicles I use Amsoil bypass filters as well.

In a normal engine, all of the oil does not get filtered. It's why there are relief valves, etc in the filter. If the filter got clogged, motor death in about a mile. Dirty oil is better than no oil.

A bypass filter is an additional filter, run's off a small line, usually off the pressure port for the gauge. It filter's finer than the regular filter, and nothing is allowed to not go through it. If it clogs, no big deal, since it's not in the main circulation of oil.

People using bypass filters are having independent lab verified results showing clean oil after as much as 50k miles.
