so i just installed a CB in my ranger, and its fine and well when its not running, but when i turn the truck on it screams and hisses and its out of control on all channels even with the squelch adjusted. Im just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if so, what they did to correct it. My connections are good, antena, ground, power etc. etc. Im thinking a noise filter possibly but IDK :TY:

your are hearing ignition noise. i had that in my caprice when I had it . you have to use a shielded cable and should get shielded Plug wires (If you have plug wires)

yeah i thought it was ignition noise to, but i did some tests, and it turns out that if its ignition noise it would be a pulsing noise, mine id more of a whine high pitched, which apparantly according to many CB websites is associated with the fuel pump. cause it some on for about 2 seconds with the key in the on position, vehicle not running, but when it is running its constant. i found some shielding stuff that acts as a jumper so to say that you just put in by the leads that go to the fuel pump. Beings my truck has the level II off road package it will be a much welcomed change to work on since i wont have to put it on jack stands like my cobra :)
