anyone know a good product to clean glue or some kind of adhesive off the floor. looks like the previous owner put down something that they used an adhesive with and I need to get it up to redo my floor in there.

Purple Power by Castrol, it is a heavy duty degreaser. It may work. You can get it at Wal-Mart. You can also try brake cleen, that may loosen it up enough to get it with a scraper.

Yep, and if that doesn't work - floor sander with 26 grit discs. That's what I used to clean my floors before I epoxied them. My floors came out awesome.

Yeah - I'll post some up tomorrow. I have a bunch at various points throughout the process. It was a LOT of work.

After taking EVERYTHING out of the garage (which took forever) this is how it looked.

Garage%20Floor%20Before.jpg

Then I pressure washed it about 9840354807 times. There was lots of acid etching and degreasing too. My floors were thoroughly soaked in grease and oil.

I sanded the floors for about 8 hours with 26 grit sanding discs. It was a huge mess and my body was killing me by the time I was done.

I sealed all the cracks in the floor with a special epoxy designed just for it. This stuff is a stick mess and a bitch to lay down, but the result it worth it. It's so hard that the concrete will fail before the epoxy does.

This is what powderized oil-soaked concrete looks like.

This is after you sand over the chipped areas you've repaired. You have to do this to get a flat finish on the floor.

This is what the floors looked like before I painted them.

This is the finished product after three layers of base coat, paint chips, and two layers of clear coat. My floors rule now. Absolutely nothing will stick to them and all it takes to clean stuff up is a towel. Everything just wipes right off. I spent about $1000 and probably three weeks total (spread out) working on this, but it was TOTALLY worth it. They are the best feature of my garage.

I also had all the drywall repaired by some professionals (because I suck at it), then textured, then I painted it. Including the ceiling.

Now I have lots of big industrial shelves, 48' of high-output flourescent light bulbs, my huge compressor, powdercoating oven, my 3 meter-wide bench, and all kinds of crap in my garage. It is FULL!!!

Kripes, I wish my garage floor looked like Paul's did in the "before" photo. I like to think that the oil and paint stains on my floor give it character. :hammer:

Thanks guys. I'm not the best mechanic, best handyman, or best of really anything - but one thing I do have going for me is attention to detail. I really sweat the details on pretty much every project. Maybe that's what it always takes me so damn long to finish anything. :hammer:
