well as you all know i picked up some worked gt40p heads two weeks ago, so while doing this i decided to replace alot of things while pulling the heads....bought all new gaskets which i knew i had to, picked up a ford racing harmonic balancer, arp head bolts, new header bolts, motorcraft 180 thermostat since it had a 195 degree stock one still in the car. 1.6 roller rockers, all new heater and radiator hoses, fel pro 1006 loc ring head gasket, msd distributor, etc...

still a couple questions i still have no picked out a cam yet, still looking at the trick flow stage 1 cam, or maybe the stage 2?? what do you all think?

my last question is i hope my valve covers clear the rockers, my rockers are stud mount...if they do not clear what are my options as far as valve covers, my current upper intake is a svo intake which i guess is like the gt40 intake....thanks guys cant wait to get my car back on the road and have a cam picked up that best fits my cars setup and stock ECU...

have you thought about an E or F cam?

over a TFS 1 are you crazy ?

TFS 1 all the way if that is the only options you have.

I would go with a Wolverine 1087 if you can find one. I just lucked upon mine.

really i would go ahead and add tune cost into your budget. That way you can get the cam that will benefit you the most. Get the TFS 1 cam. Some people haven't even had to get a tune. Just a hit or miss though.

Never said they were better. I've heard good thing about the tfs1. But the Alphabet cams aren't as bad as they are made out to be

Very true they aren't as bad as they are made out to be but the TFS cams hands down over the Alphabet cams.

OP How soon are you looking for a cam??

I've had experience with both the E and F cams several years ago ... (also with an A9P, not EEC-IV) ... the E cam was a lot of fun around town/stop light racing, that kind of thing. The F cam REALLY showed the E cam up on the strip. Lots more power above 4500RPM than the E ... F was a bit sleepy off idle though.

However, I think that you're prob wanting a bit more than they offer. PLUS, EVERYONE HAS or HAS HAD AN FRPP CAM!!! ... Go for something different IMO

if your going to get a tune get something a lil more agressive. i think 1087 would be a lil to big great sc and nitrous cam but they are extinct good luck. if they dont clear you will have to buy tall valve cover and an intake spacer. trick flow makes them.

I was going to run the 1087 with a tune with the gt40's i am having ported. I was also hoping to run the 1.7's since the heads have never been milled. I am now going to run that combo with my new V1 S-Trim

If you look hard and jump on a 1087 if you see one. That's what i did. With your heads being milled i would think running a 1.6 RR you would probably be fine.

You will probably be fine with clearance since your doing 1.6. Maybe 3/8 phenolic spacer. Don't worry about hp number. Just know your putting together a solid combo that will be very fun and should also get you some good times in the 1/4

Yeah mine is an Original Wolverine 1087. i don't think there is hardly any difference if not the exact same.

mine didnt clear with 1.6 with 7/16 stud mount the lock nut will hit the the valve covers. the prob with tall valve covers that is your tb will hit the filler neck. i like the tfs ones. find some were the filler neck on the driver side or some custom ones.
