Well, I am going to "buy" my car from my mom soon. I payed for it from day one, I just wasnt old enough to get a loan. But now that I have established some credit, and payed most of the car off, Im gonna buy it from my mom that way I can establish more credit, and have a little fun while doing it. Im gonna use the cash I get to forge the internals, put a blower on my car, new clutch, new flywheel to handle all the power. How much do you think all that would run me? I just need to know how much I should buy my car for :coolsmiley:?The even cooler thing (well sorta), is I will finish about the same time, with about the same payments. The whole loan thing we got going on now is complicated lol. And, anything else you guys reccomend while the motor is cracked open?

you've got it wide open here. :coolsmiley:
Congrads on stepping up to the next level.

what year?
you'll want PI heads (if you don't have) and some cams to get the most out of the build.

I'd recommend a forged shortblock with 9:1 compression, PI heads and a good aftermarket set of cams.
then add the blower of your choice. run at 12-15#
Search for an experienced tuner!! it's worth the money and time to get it tuned right.

I'd also recommend sub frame connectors and MM HD Lower control arms to help get more traction from the chassis.

For price estimates you'll need to list it out, and price up.

Minimum? Good hyper pistons, forged rods and good machine work. A port job on the stock heads (or PI), some decent cams, Cobra oil pump.

Suspensions, minimum, MM subframes, LCA's, Springs of your choice, and struts shocks.

New clutch while the motor is out as well

Would the PI heads be too much compression? Im hopin for the best set up with out spending more then $6k. Blowers are expensive as hell though, I should probaly buy used?

if you use the pi heads, you don't want to go over 8/9 #'s and get a really good tune

Okay so here is the list so far...

PI heads, pi cams, pi intake, port and polish, forged pistons, rods, S trim blower (including injectors, 255 fuel pump, intercooler, ect), upper and lower control arms, sub frame connecters, 315 rear tires.... i am probaly missing a massive amount of stuff but you guys get the point. You think its possible to do with $6k?

no.

your on the right track, but if you plan on a full rebuild and boost your over 10K.
for 6K you'll have to pick, forged engine/headwork and a blower later.
or
IM, cams and a blower now.

you can go either way. I've looked at it many different angles before I did my car.
Keep in mind the labor, unless your doing all this yourself. it adds up too.

your rods are the weakest link on your drivetrain, good to low 400 hp. however detonation will break them.
you need to decide how much power you realistically want, and how much money you can spend.
the PI headswap raises your compression to 10.8:1

you could go with an S trim, cams and a PI IM for now. that would be a good jump in power right now,
then do the heads and rotating assembly later and up the boost..

I didnt think I would be able to, but I have never done a full rebuild before so I didnt know. I think I might do the S trim now, get a new set of rims and some 315s for the rear, 3.90 gears, and a tune. I already have PI cams, and intake manifold, I just gotta put it on. I think that would definitly be realistic for $6k if I buy my blower set up used. If I have any cash left over maybe some upper and lower control arms, and some subframe connectors. I think that would probaly be my best bet to spend $6k to the fullest.

Good plan.
