Whats a good exhaust system for a 1994 Mustang GT 5.0L? Im looking at a Borla system but was wondering if there are any systems a little cheaper that are equally if not better than it. Price is no object here.

How much loudness do you want? because that is very important inregards of which exhaust system do you want? I have 1 3/4 longtubes from mac, mac shorty Xpipe with 18' BULLEt mufflers from dynomax i think they are like 55 bucks piece and mandrel bent 21/2 ' tail pipes with 3" tips. the car sounds awesome to me although some people don't like the bullet mufflers (too loud) the only downside is that you lose a little bit of back pressure but you can't even feel it, Borla's? i have those on right now at the moment, i got top of the line Borla PRO X's and they just suck it feels like i'm riding in a mustang with stock exhaust, i hate it, plus they are like 115 bucks a piece. it depends on your liking.

Just make sure you have headers, long tubes as you youngin's call them (real headers as us old farts call them). This will give you the best performance gain and also have a big influence on the sound.

I see a lot of guys looking for the ultimate exhaust sytem with that mean "old school" muscle car sound. Well, our old muscle cars always had headers on them, which are a big contributor to the classic sound. To give an idea how much this means, my wife's '66 had no-name turbo mufflers on it when we bought it and the system looked relatively new, and it sounded like crap! I figured I would replace it after I rebuilt her engine, but after I got the engine back in with headers and started the car it sounded like a race car. No reason to replace the cheap mufflers, it sounds great.......then again the engine is stroked out to a 331 now.

Headers sound like a good idea, Shorty headers i hear can be a trouble to wires... Im liking the Borla system's sound, I might look into a Bassani one, i hear good things about them.

I used bbk equal length shorties, as long as you use leads with a good angle coming off the plug [like Taylor], its not a problem either. :)

Shorty headers don't affect anything, remember your car already has "shorty headers" on it. If you want an easyish install, I'd go with shorties, your choice of x or h, and my personal favorite, Flow super 44's.
