I'm going to be buying a cobra r hood sometime this month, and I'd like some input on quality of some brands.

So far I've checked out the Kaenen hood, HOFibertrends, Trufiber, and abcexclusive. Those are all about the same price, abc being the cheapest in price. So anyone with a cobra R please tell me which is the best company to go with.

HOFibertrends is obviously a good brand as well as Kaenen. Abc has quality products but poor fitment from my experience.

I'd rather pay $50 more for better fitment

In no particular order I'd either go with a Cervinis, HO Fibertrends or Kaenen (their S281 wing fits mint) The cervinis hood probably has the best finish.

I learned the hard way not to really look @ the price when buying stuff for my car! I bought from a 'cheaper' place, 2 items. Both sucked!! I still stay in reason with stuff. I bought a Kaenen 281 wing. It was perfect!! Cervini's is great, just costs you extra for that name. I've even looked @ buying a hood from 50resto. No idea on their quality, everything else I've bought from them has been great!

i ordered a 1.5" cobra R hood from HOFibertrends about a month ago. the body shop i took it to quoted me $350 to paint it and install it. i found out last week that HOFibertrends butchered the mounting holes, and was WAY OFF with the alignment of the holes, so now its going to cost me an extra $275 if i want it fixed and mounted correctly.

My hood's a '95 R oem hood, made for Ford by HO Fibertrends like Drop Top said. I have heard though that Ford held HO Fibertrends to a tighter tolerance when they were making the hoods for the production vehicles than they do now that they are just making the hoods...

shouldn't they be compensating you for their mistake?

granted i know its "worth a try", but are companies that sell body parts known to compensate for a mistake like that? i have a feeling if i try to squeeze money out of them for their mistake, they'd probably throw it in my face that i didnt send it back to them.

nah, they would probably want me to send it back, which is way more hassle than its worth.
