Hey guys!! I got a quote on the pi swap, this guy wants $2000 which includes the intake and the heads. I also asked him for a price for just doing the intake and cams and he would want $1100, which includes the intake and the cams. Well I dunno.. He is the only person were I live that has even done the swap, all the other shops I called didn't even call me back!!! One guy thought my 98 had a 5.0 in it!! The intake cam/swap seems a bit high, but what do you guys think of the pi swap price? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!! :dunno:
Yea, my quote today was $1400 for full swap $600 cams/intake only, I have all the parts. Screw that, I should have just got a 99-04
Damn...the going rate for a Full PI Swap is @ $1000 for labor which is fair considering the time and tools needed...now the intake/cams shouldn't be more then $300-400 but i wouldn't pay a shop to do that unless they are familiar with the RTV method...unless you are getting the Livernois kit. Why aren't you guys doing this stuff yourselves to save all that money? Its really not hard and with a friend and basically just hand tools you can do a full PI swap in the driveway over the weekend. Plenty of how to's and writeups posted online to help.
i'm just worried if I mess it up then I'm forced to pay these high prices to do it right. I might be able to do the intake swap but I wouldn't touch the heads or the cams. It took me 2 hours to put on my cold air intake so basically my mechanical skills are bunk!!! :boink:
