I have a set of gt40p's I'm going to port and put 2.02intake 1.6 exhaust valves into. I had a member months ago to offer help with porting information and was wondering of anyone had good info or tips for me?

They say to keep the stock valve size being that is the reason the mustang have so much torque.

The site I saw showed an increase in flow in both intake and exhaust across the board I don't see how that would negatively effect torque.

I thought those were the same size valves that they put in the twisted wedge heads and that they could only fit it by the twisting the combustion chamber.

I am not a moter expert by any means but those are the same size as the trickflows I have an reading on them, they run larger valves because of it being twisted. I think even AFR's need the pistons notched to fit with bigger valves but I am not a motor expert by any means. You need a custom stereo or a remotestart/alarm I am your dude but otherwise wait till someone that knows it better to be sure.

Now that I'm thinking about it I think I remeber reading that intake valve you can't do much with but the p's use the smaller exhaust so you have the room to oversize it. Took a peak afr's site. The 185's use 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust. They state the intake may need piston clearance. They also state the 86 5.0 is guaranteed to have clearance issues. I'd assume it's the same for the 94-95's unless the gt40p's end up with different valve reach than the e7's

Most edelbrock heads are 1.90 the twisted wedge head is the only head that doesn't require fly cutting the pistons

I mean the 1.90's don't require fly cutting pistons, that is why thery are more common

putting that kind of money into GT-40P's is quite friggin stupid...

You can buy a set of used TFS twist wedge 170cc heads for the amount of money you are about to drop into those boat anchors!

I would not go that far since we do not know what he has in them nor what he is charged to do all of that. I unfortunatly learned a tough lesson about buying used heads and would not do that again but to each his own.

What cam are you going with to match these after porting them?

This is how I'm looking at it and I'm open to criticisim. The heads were free, cleaning, mag, surfacing, building, and porting are also free. Then roller rockers are useable on any heads provided they ate the right ratio for the cam being used. For nice valves I'm looking $230 springs are also a cam match deal and guide plates are $50. So $300 bucks into the gt40p's and if I get aluminums later I can use my rockers over. Please feel free to correct me if I'm off base here. Another deciding factor is ive got some issues that are multiplying in my e7's currently and I have to get stuff together fast. Now I could slap all the old valves and springs and what not on the gt40p's and see about getting some used tfs 170's but I doubt I could snag em for 500

yea like I said I was not going to jump to conclusions and say it dumb. We all have known people that ran them and didn't do half bad. If your in a time/money crunch I can understang but unfortunaly I learned a tough lesson on some used eddlebrock heads I bought and then watched my motor go out on the dyno. After that I swore that I would not buy another used set of heads just because I am never planning on selling the car it is just worth it to me to take the little extra time to save the money and get somethig new and great. I am not a rich man but from my experience if you buy cheaply you often buy twice and costs double, not including your time...

Good point. I really would like to see adders perspective on my idea there. What caused the eddys to take out your motor?
