Not to rain on anyones parade but the only way to be 100percent sure that the hood will not open is to mount them on top. The hood can split in half. I guess if you are not going to go over posted speed limit you should be fine but I would not trust any setup that mounts them below.

Plus the headlight panel is not strong.

i think it would have to take some pretty high speeds to yank both those pins out, its pretty thick plastic. I still use my latch also, plus it still has the safety on the latch on top of that.

They used this idea a long time ago on British racing cars back in the days. That's the farthest i can remember it. Probably before that though. I have seen them on " Ruler's " car back in either 09 or early 2010 when he did them and also on the 05's when people started doing them in 06 on the s197's
