What does every project garage need? - another project! I'm helping my buddy Josh build this pickup for his daily driver, custom built how he wants it. He's always liked this truck since he was a kid and finally has one of his own. In short we're fabricating a custom suspension with ALCAN all spring lift, reinforced with custom trusses and trailing arms. Powerplant - replacing the AMC 360 with an SBC stroked 383 Trans - upgraded the TH400 with red eagle pro stock kevlar and B&M convertor. Borg Warner 1339 transfer with an all gear mile marker with 16% OD Disk brake conversion Interior will be upgraded ect. More info to come Here's what we started with:
Dude I love these trucks, my step dad had one when I was little that he was trying to get running but never could. I was so sad to see it go when he sold it. I look forward to seeing the progress of this truck!
Buddy of mine had one years back, loved that thing 1 out of every 10 people would ask him how long it took to do the custom work to make the pickup bed and refused to believe Jeep made a track
looks to be in decent shape. Didn't they also call these "Honcho's"? I hope his project doesn't take up more of your time away your Mustang project.
it is a pretty cool truck, and in amazing shape. People apparently either like em, or go what, jeep made a truck? He's been accumulating parts for about the last 6 months, this is going to be fun and pretty cool when we're done. More on that soon. It might, but we made a deal that he has to help me on the mustang when this is done. we have a finish goal for 5 weeks.... no body work, but everything else. Yes, they did have a special model of the truck called a Honcho - you're good CC!
those are awesome!!!! but i refuse to comment on your thread till you comment on my jeep thread  edit: i just commented though....dammit!! after this no more comments :lipsrsealed:
hahah, thanks Tony. your build looks good so far man. Thanks Duh! Front axle: DANA 44 open knuckel passenger side drop. Rebuilding it with custom trusses, bearings & seals. Gears are good.
Wow, not bad on the rust overall. My buddy did the floor pans in his 98 f-150 last winter, looked a lot worse than these did.
Never underestimate the power of 5 months of salt caked roads every year lol. This gem of a jeep looks like it's been treated well throughout its life. I'm looking forward to the progress
Thanks guys, It has been a nice life - it came from NV, dry place, no humidity and no not much rain/no snow. Love your avitar mcglsr2!
