when we put my motor back together this winter it did the exact same thing, rechecked the dizzy several times and thought we had it. turned out we were just one tooth off. made night and day difference.
my motor guy swore he checked the pushrods and unfortunatly the last time I paid a shop to put head on it they put in the wrong length rods but it ran much better then this then.
running trickflow heads with svo 1.6 rockers that I believe are 3/8" studs? Again not a motor person(yet still learnin) so I am not sure if I have that right but I think they are stud rockers....
They are going to check the dist and dizzy but also might have found a broken wire up by the dist. They are supposed to send me a pic so I can figure out what wire it is but they said there is a butt connector on it and its broken. This is strange as I would never use a butt under the hood as they will fail after a few years of moisture and dust, I always solder.....

Where are you located ? Have you tried pulling out the chip , and putting the 19lbs injectors and stock MAF back on the car and see if it will run like that to eliminate the possibility that the tune on the chip is not right , or even a bad connection at the J3 port , most times when going to that large of a MAF the car will need to be tuned in person with a wideband , not just a mail order chip
the old tune/chip was burned for the 24 lb injectors and the old maf and I have been plannin on swapping them back to try it out.
I am considering the moates quarter horse that is on the classifieds to see if it could help.
I am in the toe-jam portion of indiana all the way down south by ky and il. The closest tuner is in ky a little ways away and if I knew it was the tune I would trailer it down there but I hate to take it into a tuning shop while not being sure that is the problem. If it isn't the tune I would hate to see the price they would charge to track down the problem. At this point there are just too many unanswered questions from the broken wire to the dist/dizzy. Wish I was out of the hospital and could work on it myself...
e'ville it is! are you close by? but anyway GOOD NEWS THEY GOT IT RUNNIN.... and damnit it was my fault caused years ago, lesson learned. PRobably close to 7 yrs ago I first installed a alarm and remote start in it. Back then I was in a rush to do everything and the audio/security shop I worked at used crimp connectors for everything. Over the past probably 5 yrs I have realized how much better soldering is and have prettywell switched over unless it was too easy to ignore. I used a butt crimp connector on the tach wire for the remote start which has been working perfectly over the last 7 yrs. Well I guess some corrosion developed, caused resistance on the wire and made a bad connection. When we looked at it and handled it(twisted lightly) it must have cleaned the corrosion off and well damnit if fired up perfect, idles nicely and sounds great revving.... never even replaced the cracked cap we suspected this mornin.
Like I said lesson learned and the few connections I do not solder will go down even less. There are times you can't avoid it but otherwise there is no excuse. I saved maybe 10 mins 7 yrs ago to waste 3 weeks of mine and my friends time today. Figure in the cost of living has gone up since then and I basically saved a nickel then to spend a dollar today.
now I just can't wait to get outta this hospital bed(hopefully tomorrow) and pick it up and take it for a nice long drive to break the new parts in.
yea now I just need to figure out how to make it up to my friends that were doing it and showing me how. Certainly learned alot more then I thought I would. Thankfully they were dedicated to gettin it runnin right. Their shop was hot as hell, thinkin about tryin to find a window ac unit or somethin to make it up to them, I owe them big time..
atleast they have shade my friend and i can only work on mine out in his driveway. and as hot as its been up in the ohio valley it makes it harder to work on cause we can only work on it for a little before gettin to hot. but im really happy for you man post up some videos of it asap
