so im pretty sure the guides are toast or i have some bad valve train stuff going on with the car. so i found a set of gt40p heads for 200 bucks. im aware of the header fitment stuff and of the fact that i need to drill the thermactor bosses to allow my to hook up my thermactor pipe. this isnt much of an issue as i have full access to my families machine shop to tear into it. i can also mildly port the heads and rebuild them for the cost of parts and my personal time. how do you guys feel about the p's and the price? also id like to get a 94-95 cobra intake so i dont have to deal with elbows and such.

They are solid heads. If you're not in the market for a new set of aluminum heads, I would absolutely pick them up.

They are worth a solid 20-25 HP increase..obviously more if you are willing to do some port work and bowl work. Install a set of TFS Ford Cast Iron springs and you're good to go

If you need some direction in what machine work to do for a good increase, just PM me. I have a friend that does port work professionally and got A LOT more performance out of my old GT40's.

A cam would be cool too (e303?), along with some nice SVO roller rockers. Might as well, since you're already diggin in there......

$200 for a decent set of GT40's is a good price.

Well they were cracked so im back at square one :( guy was a moron. Any who I don't think there are any aluminum heads in my budget. I definitely want to throw a cam and roller rockers at it too might as well have the heads set up good. Dunno wether to get 1.7 or 1.6 rockers and if I need different push rods.

You can find some untouched GT40/GT40P heads fairly cheap. If you have a junkyard local...they may have some.

Years ago I sold a set of fully Extrude Honed ($1000) GT40 heads for $400 + shipping. Just gotta look around :tongue3:

I bought a complete engine out of a V8 Explorer for $450. Took the heads and intake off and then sold the block with my E7's for $300. It was one of the best scores I've had so far.
