I work at a Ford dealership. Cleaning the MAF is a 10 hour job. The engine will need to be removed and completely rotated 720 degrees and reinstalled. Then remove the air filter and muffler anti-reversing module and switch them. After that road test until engine is up to temperature and let cool. After that remove the air filter from the exhaust and reinstall into air intake system. Then remove the intake tube with MAF in place. Spray the hot wire off and let dry. Then reinstall all parts in original places and road test.

Crap, when I cleaned mine I rotated 1080, think that'll be a problem?

Kidding aside OP, remove the clamps that hold the tubing to the MAF housing. Remove the MAF housing completely and spray the tiny wires, let dry and reinstall. Some people will remove the MAF electronics and clean the tiny wires with the cleaner and a cotton swap but it doesn't make much of a difference

I added a couple extra points of difficulty and rotated on the z-axis.

LOL. To the OP, be careful if you use anything other than an aerosol to clean the HOT wires in the MAF. They are very sensitive to the touch and can easily break. CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner from any auto parts store is what you want. Try to stay away from carb cleaner and brake parts cleaner because they are very aggressive and you can do more damage than good if you don't know what you're doing.

You just disconnect the MAF plug, then unbolt it from the housing. Carefully lift it out and you'll see two little pieces of wire looking doo dads. Use the MAF cleaner and spray them. replace and rebolt. Then plug connector back in. Ta Da! Now go run 12's.... :)
