I am replacing my gasket and trying to putt the new one in but it almost seems impossible!!! The filler neck hole is just way too damn small for the gasket I picked up at Ford. What am I missing here???

I can tell you from recent experience that it is a real pain to get in there but it will go. Try using some sort of lube. (Not being sarcastic) I did that and the seal finally would go.

i used axle greese to install my first one. and white-greese to install my second one. they arent easy. you're doing it right - no worries. you just have to put some kind of strong lubricant on it.

Thanks guys, I actually used power steering fluid I figured out the trick, but holy hell the bolts holding the straps to the car are a MAJOR PITA to bolt back in if you don't have an air compressor and air ratchet.
Hope I never had to do that again because next time it's going to the shop.
Can't tell you how many times I was saying:
"Stupid mother ****ing piece of shit, **** you!" Followed along with punching my buffer case and then tripping over the extension cord.... Yeah that happened. It was almost like the car heard me speak to her that way and she went "Oh yeah well watch your step *****"

Go to the Ford dealership, the second you say "Fuel filler neck" they know exactly what your gonna need. I walked into my dealership and the guy immediately knew what I needed. It's a $20 part from Ford, I only had to pay $9 because of my employee discount but it's worth it, It's great not having to smell gas all the time and have it leaking everywhere

Glad you figured it out. I tore mine when I was swapping fuel pumps, its almost like it was designed to tare with ease so we will forever have to shell out $12 for the gasket.

Mine was hella easy. I used white lithium grease and worked it in with a fat screwdriver being careful with the seal.
