Well there is no point in owning a mustang that can't be heard........ and the exaust rust's pretty fast beleive it or not ( in PA at least) My dad's 04 gt was rusted up really bad, we couldn't even use the original bolts because of the rust. And it only has maybe 25,000 mi?

Loud exhaust saves lives. Just like on motorcycles, you have less chance of people pulling out in front of you if they can hear you coming a half mile away lol

Ask him if he'd rather have you spend all your money on exhaust or go behind his back and spend it on drugs or alcohol. Seems to work well. Or just find a really good deal on something and show it to him. When I was wanting gears my dad was unsure of it but I found them on AM for $155 shipped so I told him that was a really good deal and it only lasted 2 days. And now I have gears. lol

loud pipes saves lives, also better fuel economy (if you keep your foot out of it) cause it makes the car more efficient.

You should be happy you get to drive a a mach 1 and not a neon. Don't push DAD or you just might be. I would never let my kids drive a mustang unless it was a 6er. Just wait a couple years untill the car is in your name

your best bet will be to repalce broken or failed parts with performance parts as teh break or fail, not when they are prefect and working just fine

Hammer + screwdriver + 10 mins with jack and stands = creative sabatoge = "Dad, I must of run something over and now have a huge exhaust leak, since aftermarket is so much cheaper then OEM I think that is the way to go"

My first car was a '74 Nova w/ ported heads, a huge cam, a 4-speed manual trans and 3:90:1 rear gears, but then again every part on the car was purchased and installed by me so I treated that car better then I treated most people. I also had to buy my own daily driver and pay for my own insurance.

If it's not in your name or you didn't purchase the car yourself I wouldn't push it cause technically it isn't yours to modify. Just respect it and don't treat it like garbage. Then one day you'll be able to get your exhaust.

I'm with everyone else, sorry. But A) your what 15? and you have a 15k dollar clean mach 1 that shows up alot of cars here that many people have put alot of work into. I don't see why you think you need exhaust. For one, you have hardly had, if you even do, your license, so i'd worry about driving skill first and foremost. Save your money, and wait till you actually pay for it before you spend money on it.

I agree with the other guys on this, having a loud car brings ALOT of un-wanted attention by both police and other cars that want to race. And if you can't handle your car and you try and race you're pretty much f-ed in the a. I have like 100 less hp from the factory than you and my car can get away from me sometimes and I push it to the limit almost every weekend in autocross. So drive it first get used to it and then mods will come slowly as you move on. Now realize I'm 16 and I've been driving alone for about 4 months now. So just relax and enjoy the fact that you even have a Mach 1.

i agree...my first car was my 66 coupe that has a six banger in it which isn't quick, when i was in the market for another car i ended up with a Pontiac Bonneville, i begged my dad to let me get a fox body 5.0, as it was my money but he insisted that i get a sensible car...i then got my gt and lasted two years with it driving like an idiot, street racing doing donuts and shit like that...I'm now 21 with a suspended license, i now i have reckless driving on my record because i got caught doing donuts....my car sits in the driveway...I'm a perfect example of what not to be...i have to wait nine moths to get my license and by that time whenever someone suggests to do a donuts i will suggest they buy one at a bakery cuz i am done doing stupid stuff like that....UR DAMNWELL LUCKY TO HAVE A CAR, AND BE DRIVING AT 15, LET ALONE BE DRIVING A MUSTANG, OR EVEN A MACH 1...JUST BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT U HAVE AND CHERISH IT, EVEN ITS STOCK....ONE DAY MODS WILL COME NAD BY THAT TIME U WILL BE MORE EXPERIANCED AT DRIVING

Catbacks or weld-in flowmasters can give you a good rumble sound and still be quiet at the same time. And in most states you will still be able to pass inspections and emissions. I would just do that if I was you, then down the line get the Offroad midpipe, headers, and whatever else your heart desires! Maybe even a catted X-pipe would do you good, as long as your legal. I dont know if I could drive my car without any type of exhaust mods.
