So my cigarette lighter is not getting power and I need to use that positive wire for a power source. I checked the fuse and all is good. Any ideas? Or is there another power source I can run it off of? I was thinking maybe the radio hot-wire. Any one know which wire that may be? Any help is appreciated

It doesn't need to be a hot wire, I used switched power from my radio for mine

by checking fuse, did you check them all or the one you think the manual said would be bad? if you only looked at one, stick your head under the dash/hood and take 2 mins to pull/check each fuse. You would be amazed how often the fuse that is blown is listed in the manual as having nothing to do with the problem at hand.

if they are all good, pull the dash piece out that holds the lighter and see if it is still plugged in in back.

If you have a ford racing speed cal do not wire it with the cig lighter nor any hot wire for that matter. It will drain your battery steadily; ask me how I know. Wire it to a switched source such as a radio wire.

If its the Dallas Mustangs speedcal I think that one can be wired to a hot wire, can't confirm that, it's just something I recall reading.

True story.

Okay thanks guys! I think I'll try to wire it into the radio. Still would like to fix the cig lighter though.

As Ttocs said, make sure it's plugged in on the back side. it's easy to forget when you pull the shifter boot. And make sure all the fuses are good.

take a meter or test light and it will take you 40 seconds to check each wire, that is if you also test all 8 speaker wires. This will also make you sure you have the right wire.
