Hey guys. My reverse glow gauges should be getting here tomorrow and I've got a question. I don't have any crimp butts and when I wiring the power cable to the 12v connection and the ground into the grounded wire, is there any other method I can safely use to get a connection? And I dont have access to solderimg equipment

its not the best method but it will work. use your wire strippers/cutters to strip back a 1/4" of the insulation with out cutting the wire. Takes some practice with cutters if you do not have strippers otherwise you can also use a blade to cut the insulation off. Now use a nail or something else with a good point on it to make a hole in the wire you are connecting too. Now take the other wire, put it through the hole and then twist it around the wire you stripped. Its recomended to use a wire-tie/zip-tie to tie the two wires together so that they will not be pulled apart, then insulate the connection with tape. If you have a solder iron then it would literally take 3 secs to make that a perfect connection.....

$20?! Shoot 10 should get you into one but $20 is a little better model. If you plan on doing more wiring later then its a worth while investment. After 15 yrs installing its the only way I make a connection on my car.

oh hell a sweet soldering station will go for upwards of $200 but there are plenty of cheap tools that you can find if you look around.

oh sweet. thanks for the tips man!

and on your origional response, where you poke a hole in the wire, do you mean like seperate the wire threads and put the other wire in there? like kind of make it so they cross each other, jsut through the hole?

yes seperate the strands of the copper, poke your wire through that and then twist it around on the other side. Wire tie/tape/done.

Trust me when I say it, either go to radio shack or somewhere and buy a soldering iron. You would be suprised just how often it comes in handy :)
