Hey guys, real quick Question... I have the Mach 460(doubt that matters) i'm at work right now, and can't go out to my car, but i'm looking at new speakers online. what size are the door speakers, and the rear speakers, I THOUGHT they were 6"X9", am i right? also, i've got a Sony Head unit, can i remove the Amps from the trunk, and also the door tweeters when i get new speakers? i'd like to lose some weight, and those ugly door tweeters, in favor of some newer nicer quality speakers, to go with the sub i'm putting in, in october when my mom comes to visit. she's bringing the box out of my '99 Mustang i had, it USED to have an Alpine R1 10" sub till it blew... lol... anyways, basically...

SUMMARY[/font]...are my speakers 6X9, and with the new speakers, can i remove the door tweeters and the amps from the trunk?

Thanks, i'm going there now to check... I hope they're 6X9's... LOL i've found more of them that seem like they would be much better for the sound quality for the budget i'm looking for.

Yup. Go with a 6.5 in the doors. the "tweeter" in the mach 460 system is really more of a wideband mid/tweeter driver, it covers lower midrange up to the treble region (does a poor job of both too). But it's a 2.5" driver that's fairly deep so you can flush mount about any tweeter you'd want to without having to cut anything, you can just make an adapter for it. Should you choose to keep the stock look as far as the grill and such, that is, you did mention ugly tweeter location so I don't know if you're talking about taking that out and putting a sail panel there or fabricating a custom tweeter mount. I'd keep the tweeter up top one way or another though.
